overlooked Mitchell and Wilson BH,I was looking through the lists on the AFL site and missed them both, certainly I agree they would both would be in the 22. My understanding is that Eddie played his junior football in Kalgoorlie but played all of his senior football in Vic and SA so one of those two states would have more claim to him I would have thought.

Fair enough Mike but I always think of Betts as a West Aussie as he only left Kalgoorlie on his mums request to play in the TAC Cup as a 16yo.
Ditto Jamie Elliott from Collingwood played most of his footy as a kid in WA (Dongara) before heading East as a teenager.
But then happy to reverse with Mitchell as he was only in WA because his old man was coaching at Fremantle at the time.

The truth is, it is not the travel, it is down to whether they have had a good side or not. I remember hearring an interview with Doug Green whom travelled over each week to play for South Melbourne. He said it never botherred one bit.

I must admit, I have often wondered what the big deal was, but then I've never played at the AFL level.

People need to come to griips with the travel issue. The following clubs have won the AFL Premiership since 1987:

WcE 3
Ade 2
Brisbane 3
Sydney 1
Port Adelaide 1

All have played in other grand finals, as indeed has Fremantle
Geelong also travels more than other clubs and has won many flags in the era
GWS travelled with half a team yesterday and won.

IN the WAFL EF has won the most flags and has done the most travelling --- especially before WP moved from Leederville.

Overseas:

UK Soccer -- in the last sixty years the competition has been won the most by Man U and Liverpool, two clubs which do the most travelling.

Surper 14: has been dominatted by NZ teams --- especially Canterbury, which would travel nerally the furtherest of the lot -- only Otago would travel more to play games.

Karl Langdon knows the truth on this question it just that WA public oinion is deaf to him.

Great to see Daniel Rich in the team.In a struggling side but a very honest footballer.
