The Tea Party are all about small government , less debt and less regulation, across the board, not really state rights over federal, they just want gov out of their lives, its at the heart of the American Psyche , as the entire nation was founded on No Tax Without Representation, British Gov interference in the American Colonies sparked the War of Independence...and that's why small gov is so important Americans, and socialism a dirty word, we are very different here, our history took a less volatile path.

Of course the yanks were all for imperial support when the army defeatted the French in the Seven Years War.

Hence why we are the most taxed country on this planet. How the fark we signed up to an agreement that penalizes a state for being successful and gives a handout to poorer states is a joke. Ive got no problem with giving poorer states a hand up based on merit and circumstances but this GST system is an absolute joke and how the hell we cannot pull out of it without the other states agreeing to it is another farce.

It is time our government seriously considered reseeding from the Commonwealth and go it alone if the rest of the country wants to play this game.

I've always harboured thoughts of WA alone, we should of done it early 60s when the state really started taking off, if we had done we would be one of the richest places in the world..

We would not be putting up with all the BS from Canberra re. crazy immigration policy, boat people - we could run our own coast guard (small navy), a small ground force and air patrol - no need for big time defence spending.

It appears from some comments on this thread that some of you wouldn't mind also building a Great Big Beautiful wall along our Eastern border? Hey it's only a couple of thousand kms and I'm sure won't cost too much.

Now of course I suppose we'd also have to build a wall along our coastline to keep out others we don't want here that way to. At only 13, 000 kms in length that shouldn't be hard to do either...
