1.Not to sell Fremantle Port in the next 4 years.
2.To build the Metro Net Trams locally, some mob in Forrestfield can do it.
3.Stop the MBA routing of the 457 visa scheme.
4.More local content on Government projects.

Not selling Freo Port is a problem - as long as MUA agree on the new Indian Ocean Gateway at Kwinana and its Private Partnership then OK< but I cannot see them doing that. they will lose members.

Mate Kwinana needs jobs, and 11,000 will flow from that project.

Building trains here is OK, as long as we have capacity and its financially cheaper.

I'm all for ending 457 rorts.

re building the rolling stock, we will never be cheaper than overseas/asia, the wages and penalty structure will always see us more expensive but that should be secondary to creating local jobs. I don't have an issue with paying more for this kind of thing if it creates lots of jobs. More jobs means more tax paid, more spending on goods, services and entertainment/holidays, a more stable safer community with more people employed so that would balance the higher cost from my pov.

yep...most of the ore trains for our miners come from China as they're cheaper even though there's shipping costs and import duty of 5%. I think Rio entered into a jv with Bradken who is our one and only Aussie manufacturer but not sure if it's still going as the Chinese goods were much cheaper.

The PTA A and B classes are all built by Bombadier in Qld, and then rail roaded over, I have my doubts there is a workshop big enough or set up enough with right gear to do the job here, I hope someone has told Sneakers the Midland Railway Workshops are long gone, and looking at the Claisebrook maintenance sheds , I doubt their is anything bar the bare basics technical infrastructure wise.

Btw, Wtf is Grassy ? at the same party as Swan42?

dunno mate...the power situation in SA is a clusterf*ck since they went hard on renewable energy. no problems with it in theory but maybe they should have had a plan B for when it went pear shaped.

Has to be Terry Redmond who he deposed who has held his seat comfortably and I suggest that's a lesson for those who want to topple party leaders. The karma bus didn't miss Brendan Grylls.

Bloody Oath mate, that tosser just got hit fair and square by it!

Mia Davies... Redmond has had his crack and was a very weak leader that weakened to a lot of the demands of the Libs when they were in power.

Yep, sounds like they closed local fossils down, mothballed others and had some weird national grid set up that has fallen over.

Labor in SA have just done a massive backflip and announced they'll spend $550mill on 2 new Gas (fossil) fueled power stations to help solve their 3rd world power supply system. In an attempt to show they still have green credentials they will also build the worlds biggest "eveready" battery to store power when the sun isn't shining and the wind isn't blowing, apparently they hadn't factored in those two possibilities when they went large on the renewables, imagine the greenies doing something halfbaked!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for renewable energy but only as an add on to proven base-load capacity power supply which at this stage is coal, gas, hydro or newks.
SA has massive uranium deposits so I'm stuffed why they wont consider a truly long term safe energy supply using N energy. Britain's had them for decades and only when there's a tidal wave or they forget to build the containment building are they a major issue. Plus SA or WA could make billions as safe storage places for newk waste as we have the most stable geology anywhere in the world and plenty of totally isolated places to park the stuff. Hopefully in the not too distant future they will perfect the fussion process which will make everything else defunct and provide endless safe power.
