Well done to the South Africans on winning the test match with one short; people on here, have rightlly questioned some of the players selectted for Australia. together with the selectors and RW himself.

Why no criticism of the bloke from Adelaide, whom is supposed to be the coach of the team?

I say suppose to be, because, by his own admission, he sends the batsmen away to learn things for themselves.

He was far short of test standard himself, being dismissed by Craig White.

I do not want Justin Langer, he is one of the standard bearers for Mitchell Marsh.

Looking back the ACB got it right when they appointted Mickey Arthur, a decision, which, unfortunatelly, they never backed to the end.

Sean Marsh has a broken finger and is out of the 2nd test. Did he run over a black cat poor bloke, he cannot take a trick. Joe Burns and Callum Ferguson added to the squad. A bit of ticker showed by the Aussies today by all the batsmen down to Lyon. Made the South Africans work for it. Gutsy knock by Nevill. Pity there wasn't a bit more resistance shown on days 2, 3 and 4.

AR, he had a test average of 44 over 27 tests so I don't agree that Lehmann was not up to test standard. He was simply unfortunate to be playing in a era where some all time greats were in the Australian team.

As for his coaching, I think his laissez faire approach hit a chord with a team with a lot of experienced players as the team was when he took over from Arthur. Now, maybe the team needs a more educational style of leadership now with players that are less secure about their places. The team seem to be playing with a real anxiety and lack of confidence at the moment, epitomised by the apparent decline of Nathan Lyon whose effectiveness has fallen away dramatically over the last 12 months and now must be under pressure from younger spinners like Agar and Zampa.

My hunch is that Jason Gillespie may be in the frame to take over in the long term.

BH: yes -- the genuine pace of the Yorkshireman's bowlling caught the great 'boof' off guard at the crease.

Why blame Boof? Have a go at the selectors.

mikeh: Lehmann was not test standard, making only five centuries, two of them against Bangladesh. He failled to make a century against, England, India, Pakistan and NZ. His Test average against England was 20.00, even though their attack was weak at the time, furthermore, he managed to attain such notoriety in mediocrity in a top six, which, on the whole was very good indeed, and protectted him.

The man made one fifty in his first 14 tests, about 339 runs. He was bloody lucky to play after that at all.

He would get into Smith's side.

He was a great player for Yorkshire and SA.

I can accept that the team has severe limitations, I can recognise that there is not a lot of talent running around in the Shield, but I think, what irritates most on here is the knowledge that, almost certainlly, we will probabally not be able to draw the match in Hobart.

Batsmen are suppose to set up or draw test matches.
Bowllers are suppossed to win test matches.

If I had anything to do with that test team, I would tell Smith and Warner, that they must try and go for the red ink. I think Warner has carried his bat in test match?

Whilst I am on the theme of opening batsmen carrying their bats through an innings, congratulations to Braithewaite, for doing so twice in the same match against Pakistan -- a really fantastic effort. Surelly unique?
