What is it about Aussies abroad that makes them think they can behave in another country clearly with different cultures and values, like they would at home? It beggars belief really. I hope the Malaysian courts throw the book at them and stamp their passports never to enter Malaysia again. Just idiots, and probably well educated idiots.

Yeah they should of known better but let's be honest the Malaysians are Neanderthals and should look in their own back yard when it comes to human rights, not to mention there out of control prostitution, brothels and humans left to die in the gutters.

Must say have been there and they dont even have to stamp my passport "never to enter again",i dont particuarly like the place,it was 4 days i will never get back.

Been to Malaysia a heap of times, pretty well known its a conservative islamic country and behavioris carefully watched. Just dumb to act os like you act at home.

Heard the manager of said swimwear company was shocked! And has plans of not producing any more Malaysian flag swimwear. But apparently orders have increased significantly for budgies and the company has difficulty keeping up with the demand.

yes..I hear what you are all saying but let's be honest..not all countries practice what they preach. I was in Saudi a few years ago and you'd get a public flogging if caught with alcohol or up to a bit of nooky outside of marriage but the Saudi blokes bugger off to Bahrain regularly to do exactly that. Same in Qatar...we stopped off there on the way back from Europe in May and to get a beer you had to present your passport at the few local bars and virtually register. There were Qatari blokes also in the pub getting pissed and making a nuisance of themselves. So yes I agree it pays to play it smart and not do anything that could be considered offensive by locals but they themselves send mixed messages too.

BC The reason they send mixed messages or seem to us to do so are the laws and culture are completely different to here and that's the issue its just not like here.

yes mate..agree but my point is that even in a reasonably conservative Islamic country like Malaysia there's still bars and massage joints which is in direct contravention of Muslim teachings...so the mixed messages I'm talking about are around allowing hedonistic pursuits to take place but then jumping all over 9 idiots for wearing their bathers in public notwithstanding the Malaysian flag angle.

It's commonly known as Idiots Day around here.
But then, the government and big business are making plenty of money from it. Guess that makes it acceptable!!??
