The whole system crashed Bazza. The ABS have already made a statement saying that no one will get fined. Apparently you have till September 23rd to submit the online form anyway although I only found that out tonight.
Shambles is probably an accurate word.

Grassy wrote: Yep,forget about doing it online.

My pack will be sent out in a week.

Did any Media Drongo ask the abs, about the possibility of the system Crashing tonight?

Nope!Let's not hold our breath here,but of course it did.That's why I didn't bother,but someone who did,suggested I ring the 1 300 etc number for a Pack.

Done!

Read this Grassy, it will give you a chuckle. Published today before the meltdown. Apparently the system can cope with 1,000,000 online applications an hour.....

Want a cock up?

Just give the job to an Australian bureaucrat.

The Yankee NFL site would get 13 million hits an hour during game day.

By the way, where are all those people who wanted electronic voting?

Logged on at 5pm and blasted through it in under 10min, easy as.

Just a reminder to the Duck Heads, if you don't do it you'll get fined. I know you guys have had a little trouble in the past with government agencies regarding not submitting things on time, if at all.

what a total shambles, 10 mill spent on it and it was hacked 4 times and crashed , I started mine at about 5.45 by 6pm it was melting down with error codes...seemed to have a lot more questions than last ones I have filled out. Kept telling me to fill out people who were away as well - But the submit was a dead end. Call 1300 -lol

Fact is this will be a right off as a census as now most people wont bother going back and doing it , none of the info will be accurate.

who ever designed it must ogf designed that Mygov crap as well , I see ATO have a new online tax return this year as well.

#censusfail had some classic comments....10 million forms failed to lodge...lol

I did mine yesterday afternoon with no probs whatsoever. also Bazza I see you mentioned MyGov and MyTax for doing tax returns...I also found that much easier than e-Tax and had no problems with that either.

The 4 incidents were DOS incidents, Denial of service so not actual hacks where info is stolen, but they prevent the system from working or receiving the online forms. Completed my form but it wouldn't submit

On the Census itself, totally innocuous questions and the one on religion is optional. I have to laugh at those fretting about the possibility of stolen info!! What info provided in that form is of any use to anyone apart from the ABS. All those with bank accounts or who submit a tax return or who are on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram etc etc already have given personal info out and those organisations will sell your info to the highest bidder so really what is the fuss all about. In the event of an actual hack/loss of data, what will the hacker be able to do with the innocuous info that was provided?

Those MP's who were not going to provide their names were just doing some political grand standing as they would all be on FB etc etc so have already compromised their privacy massively. Have they all declined from giving their personal details to their banks and insurance companies?........... really what a bunch of self important plonkers.
