Marto was superb in limited minutes in previous games but must admit I didn't see the game they got blown away by Serbia and only saw the last 5 minutes of last nights game.

Got blown away by serbia , who got blown away by the usa in the final, usa in crusie control when they played boomers, just not good enough , not even close in fact.

Yeah , they did, ranked number 2 in the world, ended up 4th, but at least forced to a PSO v Germany.

Australia was dismal, only team in the entire final series who failed to score a goal ..bungled out 4 nil by the team that finished 4th.

Piss poor.

And your knowledge of hockey would be what exactly? In the preceding 6 Olympics only one country had won a medal in each of those games in men's hockey. Bazza do you know the name of the country?

A lot of talk about the teams Rio performance. Historically its on par with other Olympics that have been competed in.Apart from Melbourne 56,Sydney 2000.+ Athens 2004.And the bad Olympics 76,80,84,88.
The complete programme package in the 4 year cycle costs the taxpayer $320,000,000.Including world championships +Comm games.Questions are now being asked about the way that money is spent.
Everyone will be under pressure for a better performance in Tokyo.Track and Field needs to be looked at and the preparation of the team sports.

I think the world rankings in hockey are deceiving. Jamie Dwyer our most skilled player is past his best along with Swan, Turner etc. Eddie Ockenden has gone backwards and we miss the physical style of Des Abbott. Not many young guns coming through so it looks bleak. The Hockeyroos achieved about what one might expect with the talent in the squad. The Boomers played out of their skins bar the second Serbian game. As for the opals I believe Suzi Batkovic would have been a cooler head in the crisis than Tolo.
The water polo sides played well for the most part but didn't have much luck.
