That was a shambles , in a way it was a mercy killing as they would of been humiliated in a gold medal play off v USA

Chloe amazing in the modern pen I mean how bloody hard would that be to win 5 disciplines to master just incredible well done

Bit harsh DW, yes very disappointing not to be in the gold medal game but they have the chance to still be the best performed Mens Olympic basketball team if they can beat Spain in the bronze medal game and become the 1st ever medal winning team.

Did you watch it SS. For a team that talked themselves up in a very unAustralian fashion they certainly failed to bring it when it mattered. They've been playing good Bball but in this game were a shambles. one thinks they got a little ahead of themselves talking about gold medals

Not disputing they had a shocker DW, but they are still in the hunt for a bronze medal and should they win they will be the most successful mens Olympic BB team Australia has had, but if they lose then thats a gold medal for choking

Not only have to put up with drug cheats at these games the basketball refs in the Bronze medal game are a disgrace as well , check out the foul call on Mills in the dying seconds .

Dont think Tokyo has Rio's natural beauty. But you can guarantee the Japanese will do an excellent job in hosting the 2020 games.

agreed gtr...having been to Japan a few years ago and seen the way they go about things first hand I have no doubt there won't be any of the chaos or shambolic running of the games which has detracted from the Rio spectacle.

I've watched a fair bit of basketball and on the Mills blocking foul at first look I thought what? But on replay and a different angle he moved his feet back. Had he kept his feet planted it would have been called a charge. Joe Ingles got awarded a blocking foul moments earlier. That's basketball but Australia should not be whinging about the refs. They had plenty of opportunities to win the game fair and square but Spain's point guards found a way to the basket far too easily and too often.

Why wasn't Damian Martin out there in the last qtr? 5 x NBL defensive player of the year, that's his bread and butter so maybe the coach needs to take some of the blame.

Marto is undersized at that level as a 2 would be one theory. Lisch is a great ballhandler so he played minutes in the 1 spot. The last call was not a foul in the first minute let alone the last but that's sport. Overall a top ten finish at the Olympics is acceptable in my book. Plenty to be proud of.

Well that wraps up Rio and Australias worse Olympics in 20 years, I thought London was bad but we out did ourseleves here.

Womens rugby 7s the only medal in teams, which was an abysmal performance across the board, Hockey particularly so. Both basketball teams head home empty handed as well.

The pool dissapointing to put it mildly , track and field one of our worst performances in decades.

Basically the cycling a complete write off , the Brits dominated it.

Rowing not far behind, lost count of how many times ch 7 talked up chances only to dip out, thank god for Brennan..

Chloe in the modern pent, a rare outstanding acheievement.

Rio as a host had its problems, its economy collapsed in the lead up, crime violenece not ideal, offcials scalping, not a good look. Worse for me were the piss poor crowds, really killed the atmosphere, same happended in the Delhi CG and Sth Africa world cup,

But to be fair there have been worst games, Munich was a disaster, and these games were not killed by boycoting as moscow, LA and Montreal were, even Melbourne in 56 was plagued by boycoting

Tokyo should be a lot better, Ive been to Japan, and the organisation and efficiency low crime and politeness of its people really stand out.
