While we're waiting for the season to start, thought I try to get a thread going about shitmixers we have given or received. Mine is the receiving type. In the early 70's, I was playing in (then) Mt Newman League. I was at CHB and intercepted a pass and saw the FF starting to move. I thought 'yep were on here' and I'd have a run and give him the ball. Trouble being I didn't see the bloke behind me and no one talked. A bloke grabbed me and sunk me about a metre into the gravelly part of the oval. The bloke was a fella called Kelvin Payne...any Perth supporter of my vintage may be able to remember him from his Perth FC days. Built like the proverbial brick shouse. I ached from my eyelids to my toenails for weeks after.

Kelvin Payne is (should I say was) a relative of mine. Jesus I'd hate to get flattened by him. He was - and in fact still is - the size of a house with a mean streak a mile wide.

He came out to Lathlain for a rare visit with his daughter (who incidentally married an EF player!) a season or two back.

Can anyone remember the day when the great and gutsy Brad Shine got absolutely steamrolled by David Bushell of EF at East Freo oval after recieving a hospital handpass from Peter Satori? He was out cold before he hit the turf, it was in about 1984 and David Bushell, the dirty mug with a history of thuggery, didnt even get booked for his cowardly shirtfront!!
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Vaguely remember the incident mate but it would be fair to say "Bulldog" Shine (one of the toughest footballers I have ever had the pleasure to see play the game) had the last laugh as he went on to play a major part in our Premiership win that year kicking a lazy 5 sausage rolls in the big one vs EF.. whilst Bushell went on to be remembered only for cowardly pushing an elderly $ubi trainer over the fence in a match!!

two that stick in my mind were Lester Joyce on Turkey Tom Grlusich at Subi Oval and that traitor Cam Venables on Tony Godden at Claremont. Turkey was bouncing the ball through the centre of Subi Oval and Lester lined him up from about 30 meters..good night nurse. Venables gave it to Godden after he had kicked the footy and subsequently got rubbed out for a few weeks ...dirty mongrel....likewise Simon Moss twice on Jason Heatley after he'd marked...once at Subi and once at east Freo...filthy pig.
