why would I watse my money on some socio economically challenged Midland youngster / SDFC player to play state u/18's?...we all know very few get drafted....better return on your investment on a EFFC youngster......

howz Dayle going these days....soft as butter that boy, hopefully SDFC reimbursed the AFL their share of Dayles draft booty.....oh yeah that's right SDFC didn't....folk always want something for nothing these days....

So we lose the players for almost 2-3 months and the clubs also should pay the $500. It should be incumbent on the AFL and the devils incarnate (Eagles and Dockers) to fully subsidise the cost of the extended (BEYOND BELIEF) Under 18s.

he's going better than Ben Cousins but this is not about Cousins or Garlett..
its about the kids in this year's program and their families

surely a state 18s team should be fully funded by the WAFC...that's unbelievable.

it beggars belief why SDFC haven't handed back Garletts draft fee to the AFL kitty....30 kids in the squad at $500 each....$1500.....how much did SD get for Garlett again $35K.....can see why the AFL won't pay mate.....some one here needs to do the right thing....will it be SDFC or the AFL?.....

yeah but Garlett hasn't reached Bennys age yet mate....still plenty of time left Markie.....hopefully Dayle can win a Brownlow, play over 200 games of AFL, win a few club F&B and A/A jumpers in the mean time too.....can someone achieve any of those playing for the Dandaragan footy club?.....like I said every one wants something for nothing....from the 3.8 million dollar fat cat right down to the fella sinking 4 $8 cans of beer and scoffing acouple of $5 -6 hotdogs/burgers/meat pies at the footy!

Still confused why WAFL clubs get all of the $35K. Most investment in time & money in a kids development is their parents - they should get a cut!

I understand in soccer the draft fee gets split amongst junior club & senior club.

The AFL cant afford to pay the money for these kids because all the spare money goes to North Melbourne, Footscray and St Kilda. All of whom cannot afford to be the the AFL.

There is talk of late that St Kilda are getting another 100 million to jazz up there old ground.

NOt another dollar to struggling vic clubs.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Guys this has been the case for years, and its the same in most representitave sports. $500.00 really isnt alot, especially when the AFL is paying for the kid to travel Europe or wherever they want to take the touring party each year.

From my experience at WAFL development footy at the start of the 2000's if the players could not come up with the money then the clubs usually ran a raffle to help out.

You get nothing in life for free now, and while that might be difficult for a single parent in Midland or Armadale, there are options for everyone and its the same rules for everyone.

$500.00 is about half a weeks wages for most people, and most parents will make the sacrafices to get their kids there.
