God I hope they tidy Freo oval up. Worse venue in the WAFL for watching the footy.

Grand stand 50 meters from the oval.
Bar 50 meters from the oval, on an angle leading away from the ground and behind glass windows that takes away the atmosphere of the game.
No area to drink in the open unless you are a SF member. Unbelievable.
Cars get the best view as they surround the place.
Ugly cement everywhere on the outer.
Time clock didn't work last year and still doesn't work this year - the only place i have seen a quarter of footy go for 40 minutes (as per time clock) and I have seen it twice there along with regular 35 minute quarters. Is this an angle the club employes. Big fine if that's the case.

Imagine having to put up with same if EF move there.

the stand has been in the same spot for 130 years. not sure what the surprise is there? Also its commonly known to be concreted, so bring a fold out chair, its not a real big deal.

most wafl grounds are semi adequate these days, not just freo oval. the ground has tradition so I hope it is always retained.

Didn't say that i didn't want it retained just fixed up.

Sure the stand is Heritage and going nowhere so bring the oval to the stand.

Bring the bar to the oval.

Get rid of the cars.

Fix the time clock.

If two wafl clubs are going to share that ground the council, wafc and state government and fedral government should come up with 10 - 15 million to fix the place. Lots of money to be saved on selling off EF oval.

Can be done.

The only point I agree with is the point re Cars, apart from that all your other observations are ridiculous, the stand has been in the same place for ever and a day, the members bar provides good viewing in comfort for all, there has not been an out door bar at most WAFL ovals for decades, just not enough people, if the clock is broken, then yep should be fixed, on positive it's a good traditional scoreboard.

The terraced surroundings are in keeping with virtually all Melbourne and Adelaide suburban football grounds, , I don't take a picnic blanket anyway I've always stood or sat in a stand at any ground I go too.

I am not suggesting that the grand stand should be moved - I am suggesting that the oval be realigned so that it boarders the grand stand and bar.

Very expensive thing to do I understand but we have to provide for the next 100 years. It sound like EF and Sf could be sharing the ground and I think the expenditure is warranted for our great game.

Two clubs using the oval, community functions to be had there, Heritage preserved and to be proudly looked upon.

Imaging starting from a clean slate how good SF and EF could develop this area and show off the fantastic heritage both have.

Mate they didn't bother doing that when 20,000 people were turning up , there's bugger chance there going to do it when 1500 are coming along each week.

Quotes on the Adelaide oval redevelopment.

MATTHEW PAVLICH
Ex-Woodville-West Torrens player, now Fremantle captain
"I'm gobsmacked in a way because it's been able to retain the hill and the Adelaide Oval aspect to it. They've done a fantastic job and I'm rapt. I played some SANFL games there and it has changed a bit. Credit to the SACA, the SANFL and the AFL for getting together and finally making it work."

BRUCE McAVANEY
Channel Seven commentator
"I applaud the SACA, SANFL, the AFL and the government to mend fences and get this built. It's an incredible feeling when you walk through the gates. It has some magic about it and I think it's highly rated by anyone who goes there. It looks different but hasn’t lost anything at all."

IAN CHAPPELL
Former Australian Test cricket captain, now Channel Nine commentator
"You have to give the public new and better facilities and the ground needed new revenue streams. Drop-in pitches are a price worth paying for progress in my view. I'm happy to have a grandstand named after my family, but would have been just as pleased if it had been a bar."

Fellas I believe the Ground is heritage listed so any work has to have applications & approvals - it's why The Victoria Stand is as it is.

They didn't need to do it when 7 to 20 thousand people were turning up because these crowds gave the place atmosphere as people were on the boundary screaming and giving the atmosphere.

There are now ways to design grounds that provide and atmosphere with 2 to 3 thousand people in attendance.

The 2 to 3 thousand have to be on the fence. Not 50 meters back.

It can be done.
