BC how about some damning comments on Abbott and Morrison who were only too pleased and willing to highlight every boat arrival via their billboard and now they the living image of the three monkeys. It IS AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE that they are treating the Australian Parliament and people with complete and utter contempt.

What actions Bazza. Has Abbott or Morrison told anyone what their actions are?
On a similar note why hasn't there been a press announcement to indicate that the Royal Commission into the so-called 'pink batts' is going to be expanded to look into all work place deaths. Perhaps they can start on the two deaths in recent times in the mining industry in WA. Of course this won't happen because Abbott is playing base political games with not even a scintilla of consideration for the families of those involved. Completely and utterly reprehensible by Abbott; but why should we be surprised.

If you are talking about TOWING boats back to Indonesain waters, that would be unequivocally ILLEGAL.

So apart from you and the rest of the bleeding heart brigade - who cares? People seem to forget that this country belongs to Australians. And YES, we can give the world the finger. Swap the name Australia for China - who would critize them?
No-one of any importance. Mate, you're 7 goals down in the last quarter kicking into a gale on a wet day....but hey, so is the rest of the Labor camp

swan42 is correct, its not illegal to ask for asylum, that's clear. If you arrive by plane or boat, you can ask for protection on the proviso that if you are returned to your country of origin you are harmed. that's why the sri lanka's were pissed off back home, it was so easy for rudd and co. it made them look as if they were serious about border protection. I think swan 42 is a more politically correct person than a genuine bleeding heart, I think he prefers good solid argument, than rants. I really would like to know if he is a bleeding heart or a argumentative bugger.

Its no surprise to me that you think the pink batts scandal should be covered up Swan, seeings that a number of people died and had theur houses burnt down, it must be highly incovenient for you to handle.

Hopefully idiots incorporated , Rudd et all get held to account.

Your reference to the mine deaths is totally irrational, all mine deaths are subject to coronial inquests, and will be dealt with accordinly , just as they would under any administration, which by the way is a state responsibility in anycase which you clearly don;t understand.

Perhaps you might learn a little about the UN Convention on refugees. Once you have done could you please come back on to this forum and state unequivocally that they are legally entitled to do seek refugee status in Australia.

If they have country shopped they are not entitled to the same protection.

The UN convention only allows for refuge in the closests nation of safety.

Further, even if they are accepted the UN conventions leaves it entirely to the host country how they are to be assesed, it gives the host country unequivicle rights of return on anyone who fails to meet the criteria.

But at the end of the day I'm glad you care about what the UN says or does, becuase visrtually nobody else does, perhaps you should spend more time thinking about what it is doing to stop the war in Syria, than sweating on the small stuff of people smugglers.

Was upfront and clearly stated befoe the election that two backs would be one part of the policy...

greens and labor said it was impossible to do ??? lol

seems like the impossible is possible after all!

and its clearly not illegal, so far the UN has not expelled us from the UN.

42..every time the Labor govt spruiked about a new arrival and we saw footage of asylum seekers being escorted off patrol vessels happily smiling and waving to the cameras your good mates the people smugglers could almost hear the cash registers turning over. what better way to advertise their product than to show boatloads of new refugees arriving on our shores? if this governments plan of not declaring each and every boat that shows up slows down the numbers then i'm all for it.

It will be amusing to see how Labor and the ABC try to spin the Coalition’s success. It's going to be very difficult for them to come up with a position that doesn't provoke howls of laughter from most voters. Perhaps the most ludicrous will be the claim that this success is really Rudd's doing, as if Rudd's lame attempt to fix the problem he created, after nearly six years of failure, in the final months of the Labor government was even remotely credible. If Labor had been re-elected, no doubt they would have gone back to the mantra that it is no longer possible to stop boats and we'll just have to get used to the influx of asylum seekers.

Equally risible will be the attempts by Labor, and their friends at the ABC, Fairfax, The Guardian etc, to claim that the Coalition Government engaged in some kinds of extra-legal methods to achieve this success. They're almost sure to try to distort the facts, because the Coalition have just made them look utterly incompetent and completely ridiculous. All their claims about 'push factors', that it's impossible to turn boats back and all the rest have been proven to be complete lies. The respective records of Labor and the Coalition regarding people smuggling will be absolutely devastating to Labor for the foreseeable future. Vote Labor - vote to re start the boats.

I don't think Labor will fall for the same trap twice if they get elected at some point Bazza....if they do then they'll be the most incompetent and shambolic government ever...oh, that's right...Gillard and Krudd already have that honour....well, the second most incompetent and shambolic ever.... ;-)
