Yep congrats to all WA boys selected DD, hopefully a few more in the selection gun with the rookie draft today....very surprised SD youngster Trew didn't get a nod last night.

Thought Subi boy Lachie Vanirsen might have been picked up, won the Colts F & B medal, had a great finals series and won the Whinnen medal in the colts GF, not much more he could do. Might get rookie listed hopefully for him, but will gladly have him stay at Subi.

Doesn't it defy logic? Win the comp medal, win the grand final medal, poor kid, must be very confusing.

Might mean the standard of colts was not very good this year ?
English won it a few years ago and got delisted without playing a game, the best of the colts kids played league footy

I don't know if it is just my suspicious mind or not, but I thought it was rather interesting when the Perth boy going to Sydney as well as probably another member of his family were both already wearing Swans shirts.

Inside information? Or maybe the interviewer and cameraperson brought the shirts with them.

Every year there is a wailing abt this one or that one not being picked up!

The fact is that the AFL recruiters are looking for something different to what we see as supporters. It can be attitude, effort, size, skill or just plain he doesn't fit the current stereo type.

The thing will be if those like the Subi player can then become a WAFL league player or as sometimes happens spit it cos I did not get picked, perhaps I am not as good as mum tells me!

As much as it pains the Boy is a good example of not being drafted but turning himself into a half decent WAFL player!

Grump, by all accounts Lachie is a pretty level headed lad and if not rookie listed will likely play league for us in 21 where he can have another chance to show his wares, if he can be consistently good in a team like Subi, then he will attract some more attention. Needs to look to the example set by Matty Priddis, overlooked again and again, won a Sandover and went on to be a winner and runner up in the Brownlow.

SS the rookie draft and pre season draft (only 1 pick used what a waste of time) was held at 9am this morning.
The only WA boy picked up in that was Zane Trew from SD (and Taj Schofield originally WA/SU) whilst re-rookied was Bailey Banfield.
