I hope you are right BC. I think the standard of WAFL footy has fallen to its lowest ebb in the nearly 50 years I have been following it. People have been voting with their feet to the extent that we now struggle to get 2000 spectators to games. This decline has coincided with the alignments which has reduced the WAFL to a mere breeding ground for the AFL. Not sure how young players are going to develop in a competition where there is such a massive discrepancy between the well resourced clubs and the rest.

Interesting game this one as we certainly had some opportunities to put far more scoreboard pressure on Subi than we eventually did but unfortunately we just couldnt take advantage of those chances through a combination of our appalling ball use by hand and foot plus bad decision making and also Subis pressure and better skill and far greater work rate to out number us at every contest not too mention the ability to stay involved for 4 qtrs which we havent been able to achieve for a long time like our atrocious 2nd qtr yesterday.
That was the difference in the end of the day and until we improve significantly in both areas we will not be a Top side!

Subi missed 3 easy opportunities in the first qtr...should have been further in front at that stage then you are right BH, Ryan had 2 on the board 2 minutes later and really it was game over....whatever you like to say about the reasons why Subi are streets ahead of the rest one has to admire the brand of footy they play. Ruthless play on at all costs. Our boys didn't know which way to look and I actually felt we were trying hard but the step up in pressure on the ball carrier caught us out...we couldn't execute under the pace of the game Subi bring

Good to see Blight back out there,he will be better for the run. Was he the player involved in the incident that the Subiaco player got carted off? I was at the other side of the ground so didn't get a clear view.
I watched Harding's sum up of the game last night and he seemed to suggest that Dave Ellard may need another week to get over his injury, pity because he would be very handy next week. Great to see some of the reserves boys putting some pressure on with their winning effort. Freddie could be back next week to front up against his old team.
Finally I was completely confused by the umpiring all day, one example was their interpretation of when to recall centre bounces. There was one which went off at an angle straight to the Subi ruckman who tapped it straight to Cockie. This one wasn't recalled whereas another one which went straight up and only Gault went for it was stopped??

Mike did you happen to watch the Reserves game yesterday as they have confused me for far too long a time now...hopefully this report that is being done on them can improve the standard and consistency! :woohoo:

Mikeh there wasn't just one time that occurred. How about the scoop in the first few minutes that resulted in a Subiaco goal. A clear cut throw.

mike I think it was Riggio and he'll be in a bit of strife as it was a clear sling tackle which resulted in Hoskins being badly concussed. It's a shame as for mine Riggio is a ball player but the rules are there to protect players heads and he transgressed.

BC I can't speak to that particular incident as it was down the other end. However, I can speak to the blatant throw that resulted in a Subiaco goal in the first few minutes. I would expect the umpire in question to spend a lengthy time in the ressies .

As for the legitimacy of any sanction against a Swans' players as a result of yesterday's league match is as much of a joke as the missive issued by the WAFC on Friday.
