Good topic BH.Just shows the job Swans has done for the AFL.Fielding a reasonable list of AFL players that would make quiet a competitive AFL Team..Sometimes you get the feeling that the Wa Comission and the AFL dont appreciate the job done by all Wafl clubs..On Swans it just shows you why they have finally hit a brick wall and fell flat on there face.Players are just going out faster than they come in to the club..If all tier 2 clubs could keep young players just a bit longer before they GET DRAFTED .Just think that would also be good for the AFL clubs also.

He was only a boy when he came to WA Anchorman. He learnt his trade at Swans.

My understanding was that Lachie Neale grew up in South Australia, was drafted by the Dockers and was allocated to Swans under the arrangement previous to the Alignment, so he was a Freo player all the time he played for Swans. I think its a bit of a stretch to describe him as an "ex Swans player" He was great for us though and you could see his potential from very early.

Unlike you BH to consider a non local SD boy in a side like that mate......good side tho BH, could see them giving Freo a run for their money...with Lachie playing for his beloved SD of course.....

If anchor & $$ would like to prove to me Lachie didnt pull on a Swans jumper in a WAFL league game (well before a Freo one too I might add) then I will be happy to take him out of the side, so it is safe to say he will be staying there!

I challenge anchor & $$ to post their own beloved SF & $U Current AFL Listed sides respectively but im not sure they could fill an old VFL side (16- no wings) let alone have 18 on the field?

yep fair due BH....just got confused mate because your usual mantra is for local produce that's all....be interested to see what side you name for next year, considering a lot of those boys could well be ex AFL listed guys....good for SD if they return to their roots....or in this selection criteria case not their roots.

Mate we can only hope we get some of our own boys back as it has been all one way traffic heading East from the nearly 40 players drafted over the last 10 years. I can only think of Notte, Blight, Ugle & Banfield that have returned to action in the Black & White albeit a small cameo appearance from Newman!

Freeze Swans 1980-84 would beat this current Freo Afl side even without our Neale in the side.
