That era team would challenge just about any mob you can think of, (maybe excluding the Hawks, Swans & Geelong teams of the last 9 years)clearly the best WAFL team I have seen in the 50+ years I've been watching the game.

yep very true gtrx SD in that era were indeed very special....reckon tho that Hawks team through the 80's was pretty special too SS.....they had champs on every line....actually nearly in every position.....Ayres, Langford,Greene and Mew up back.....Platten, Tuck, Matthews and Dipper thru the middle and Brereton, Buckenara and Dunstall up front...truly scary.....but yep SD side in that 80's era definitely were a joy to watch....more so for you SD fans!! ......10 goal 1st quarters in GF are pretty special!

You take what you can Anchor, West Perth ended up with Chris Groom in the Freo mini draft allocation way back, who played in a WAFL flag. If a player pulls on the boots for a club, whatever the reasons, then he is a player at that club IMO.

A game at Subi oval Swans would of given the Hawks a good game as Subi did in 1986. If Dermie starting playing up Boucher would of sorted him out Freeze.
In the 1970's the VFL was still big mark + Torpedo Punt and in WA we where playing run on footy already.Mark + hand pass moving the ball quickly.

That is a fantastic line up. Not really sure you should include Neale or Adams but the rest are genuine swans products. The last ten years has been a massive turnaround by swans. Previous to that we had few draftees and it is a credit to people involved at the club.
