I wonder how the rest of the squad at Subi feel about the 2 ex SD blokes that receive over half of their allowed salary cap. Must be a lot of love at that club to allow 2 outsiders to come in and take over half the coins direct from their new team mates pockets. Neither of them 2 blokes would budge when it came to negotiating their pay packets at SD so we know what it took to get them to move across. They are the Buddy Franklins of the WAFL them 2

We got 1 from SD the other came to us from South Bunbury, they're worth every cent. As moderator you should probably set a good example and stay on topic.

Whilst I have supported Harding over the journey this season I have noted not 1 of our players has improved on last season only a handful at best have been anywhere near their previous form whilst the vast majority have gone backwards alarmingly which is a pretty damning observation.
Whilst I acknowledge we have had a number of injuries to important members of the side, the skill level, leadership, decision making, strength & fitness at the club this season has been well under the standard expected and if there is not a vast improvement next season then you would expect the coach to be severely under the pump!

My concern BH is that the damage has already occurred and its been occurring for a few years but hidden - until this season - due to the club's reasonable success on the field. Players walk in...and then walk out. Reasons for departure include more money in the bush, Ellenbrook, Subiaco etc etc etc or personal issues. I think it's more than that. Yes, injuries have influenced the club's performance this year, but the soft tissue injuries also appear to have affected the heart of some very good and loyal footballers who have served the club and who have chosen to go elsewhere. I hope that making a call regarding the coach next year is not too late.

Thing is DW, those 2 ex SD players concerned probably knew they were gonna have to do all the donkey work carrying the rest of the SD side, thus their reasoning for not budging on money....perhaps at Subi they were happy to get not as much, because of the number of quality players around them at Subi to spread the load.....come end of the day, the likes of Cockie, Broughton and Horsely are far better players than those two ex SD boys and deserve better monetary enticements one would think?

That's the point here Freeze, we are losing top end players at our club and if things are all hunky dory at Subi (I have no knowledge of any salary cap rorting for the record) one can only wonder why we are losing these players if they are being paid less to go elsewhere as the numbers these players were after was a significant portion of the salary cap individually let alone 2 at the one club.. Mid season report here and near on all of us SD supporters are concerned about the current culture within our team. Maybe the writing has been on the wall the whole time Harding has been coaching. It's discussion worth having regarding this thread's topic which is where I was heading with my posts TOSG before you go jumping to conclusions. My club is under review here not yours. We have the right to compare cultures like for like with other WAFL footy clubs. Robbo was training back with SD before his departure to Subi and make no mistake he moved there because SD couldn't afford him. Our loss your gain, nothing sinister about it

perhaps success is more important than money to these guys DW.....so far everything Subi have done of late compared to SD, supports Robinson and Twomey's decision making.....who knows....but footy is such a short career that I don't blame any player for being selfish in regards to loyalty....though how respected is GH amongst the senior players to say what BD was?

Aside from the money players also want success and Twomey and Robbo with their inside knowledge at swans clearly saw the need to get out of there fast and join a professional club.

Agree with your sentiments Freez, something ain't right amongst the players right now which is hard to pinpoint not being privy to the inner workings. It's why some of us are astounded Harding had his contract extended recently. Nothing personal as he may still be the right man for the job but this seasons efforts as a whole needed to be reviewed before locking him in. The only reason to do so was to either stop a rival WAFL club or AFL club from poaching him which given the current state at SD this would be most unlikely.

DW: absolutely 100 per cent correct on Harding. He is the Hardwick of the WAFL.
