But the view of a lot of outsiders not knowing the daily workings of the club is just stick with the young players. (Really no choice in that anyway) and keep in contact with the bus load of ex Swans players in the Afl.I have no doubt that Nick Natanui will finish his footy career at Swans where he started his career. As just 1 example of a player that will end up back at Swans in the future.
Also the question has to be asked can Swans get Swoop back from Melbourne where he now lives. To join the Harding+Malaxos coaching team. That 1/4 time spray on Monday would be right up his alley.

Will the football club keep a close eye on the long list of ex-Swans men playing fantastic football at other WAFL clubs or kicking packets of goals in the hills, amateur and country competitions (Robinson, Twomey, Daniels, Pickett, Potente Houghton, Woofenden, Latch, Casserley, Ridley, etc)? Are they keeping in contact with a former coach who took the team to a premiership in 2010?

Of those guys you mentioned SH, I thought Casserley had retired due to injury problems, Wolfenden was told by the current coach in 2011 that he was no longer in the best 22 at that stage, Potente seems quite settled at West Perth, ditto Robinson and Twomey at Subiaco, Houghton seems to want to play country footy but I suppose he could potentially be talked into coming back. Not sure how Latch is going at Perth, wasn't in their team last Monday. Would love to see the club try and lure back Ridley and Daniels because their talents are wasted in amateurs. Depends on if they want to do the hard work that is required though. Pickett? Cant recall him? I'm sure you or someone else will fill me in on him.

As for Dawson, he is a very highly regarded academic and my feeling is that he may not want to coach any further given the time demands of his career. He even seemed to be a little reluctant in his last year at East Perth. I remember reading that he was considering a part time role at that club as well don't know if that materialised.

Thanks for that information Mike, but the club seems to be bleeding quality players to other teams - and its been happening for a while - while other WAFL clubs within reason appear to keep players. Despite some success on the field over the last few years, the culture at the club doesn't appear conducive to a positive environment. Surely there must be questions raised regarding Harding's coaching, and I was staggered at his contract extension.

Marlion Pickett was recruited from SD by Souths in 2012 or 2013 and played a blinder at CHB for WA Saturday.

SH it is my understanding the Swan Districts referred to in the Budget and the like that Marlon Pickett was recruited from was our amateur team.
Whilst I have supported Harding over the journey this season I have noted not 1 of our players has improved on last season only a handful at best have been anywhere near their previous form whilst the vast majority have gone backwards alarmingly which is a pretty damning observation.
Whilst I acknowledge we have had a number of injuries to important members of the side, the skill level, leadership, decision making, strength & fitness at the club this season has been well under the standard expected and if there is not a vast improvement next season then you would expect the coach to be severely under the pump!

BH and SH....Marlion was overlooked by the recruiting staff from the Ducks and choose to come to SF.
Add Josh Pullman to that list , member of SD colts Premiership team, spent two or three years playing in Qld. Did not return to his club of origin.

Yeah that's disappointing Dwert but we wouldn't be the only club where that has occurred even at SF with the likes of Jones, Sokol, Mills, Fimmano, Bootsma, Ross, Jetta et al seeking greener pastures ...swings and roundabouts mate!

Not a lot of financial incentive available at the club for bringing in new players or getting some to return. Robbo wanted approx 1/6 of the entire playing budget hence he left for much less at Subiaco....or did he?

With what the 2 former Swans are on $$$$ over there it doesnt leave a lot of coin left over for the other 50 odd $ players in the salary cap mate!
