I hope so Mike but I just can't see it turning around that quickly as other than the first 10 minutes on Sunday and for a brief period in the 2nd qtr vs SF our form has been horrendous and as bad as I can actually remember.
Maybe we could start by picking a forward line capable of kicking at least 15 goals (yes I do realise the midfield plays a massive part in us actually winning the ball to send forward) but with pitiful goal tally's of 9, 2, 6, 13, 8, 10, 8, 3, 12, 7 so far this season we aren't exactly going to have opposition defences losing any sleep or quaking in their boots in the lead up to playing us I dare say!

BH, do you think our league team would be good enough to win the reserves comp at the moment?

Yes DW  but it would take nearly a half of footy to finally win some confidence back amongst the troops by being able actually to hold onto the footy for more than a couple of chains of play under the considerably less pressure of Reserves footy.

My thoughts are I doubt we'd be good enough to beat the 2015 SF ressies GF side with our current line-up. Scary thought :pinch:

Is it time to give Dylan Smith a chance and put him at full forward in partnership with Cary and have Jukes and Riddoch as small forward options?. Perhaps throw Justin Simpson up forward as well. Would leave our defence a bit vulnerable but we cant be any worse than we have beem. Time to throw the names around the whiteboard and try a few things

One thing we can all agree on is dramatic improvement from all facets of our footy club is drastically needed and wanted ASAP. The off field have done a good job in turning the finances around it is now up to the football side to do their job so we don't go all the way back to square one!

I know we are only half way through the season but I am already thinking about 2017 and to me some of the key questions are
1. Will Ryan Davis retain his place on the Gold Coast list given their fall from grace this year and if not would he come back to Swans?
2. Ditto Ryan Crowley with Essendon
3. How many of the current senior player group will go around again next year?. I am counting Ames, Simmo, Clutterbuck, Riggio, Jetta, Notte, Ugle, Blight, Rogers and Banfield in the group of senior players. In my view, Ames may be the only one in some doubt out of this group, although he may be tempted to play one more season given that he is only 13 short of 250 games for Swans. Blight must also be be considering his future given that he is so injury prone
4. How many young players will be drafted? Griffin Logue seems a certainty but will there be others?
5. Will Newman return next year along with some of the other talented guys like Ridley and Anderson?
6. Will the players with long term injuries/issues be right to go for preseason? ( i.e Blakely, Nuich)
7. Is there potential within Swans budget now to do some limited recruiting to fill some gaps in the team?

Hopefully some of these things are being considered by the club even at this early stage.

Hopefully newman is gone for good as he let the club down too many times.

As far as Davo and Crowley go it depends on how much the $alary cheats residing a
at the Tech school end of Leederville oval will offer them.

I don't believe Ames or Simmo would want to finish on this seasons note.
The others are young enough to go around again.
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Mate without doubt all of the above and more has already been discussed!

-Crowley will be back!
-Ames wanted to play 250! He may also take over a role at the club of which he has qualifications for.
-Logue is a possible top 10 pick. Hackett and Clarke the only other possibles with Ansey a smokey.
-Highly unlikely Newman and the other 2 mentioned would return and better off without them tbh. Club has gone to great lengths to help each individual with not much coming back the other way. They got to help themselves 1st!
-Doc I'm not sure will play again with such a lucrative profession awaiting him. Will assess once rehab is complete but yet to decide if playing on so I heard. Nuich will be back all going well.
-Ellard is already more than likely to come back. I doubt we'd stop there!

We also shouldnt forget losing League players of the quality and ability of Davis, Broad, Blakely, Hughes, Lobb & Cameron in the AFL draft over the last 2 years has eventually taking its toll and hurt us hard. That on top of losing our best Colts boys at the same time.
