Simmo is over rated by you blokes big time. Good toiler and the league has a few of those.
I wouldnt have selected him to start with to be honest and there is probably the problem for you "selectors"

A reliable WAFL player Astro who plays to his strengths but his best quality is his best moments more often than not have come when the team needs it most. Makes him super important. As others have said has a knack of finding a goal. Doesn't handball often , not sure if that is fault or strength of his game, depends which side of the fence you view footy in general.

His defensive and tackling pressure when he played half forward was second to none and has bagged 4 and 5 goals in a game on a number of occasions, and ripper goals too like snaps over his shoulder from 40 etc, also is courageous, almost stupidly courageous doesn't panic under pressure will stand up for his teammates and wont back down in a blue, He is first picked in my combined WAFL team or Swans all-day, everyday

Opinion is a funny old thing eh?.....to some Simmo is a WAFL great right up there with the the WAFL best of the past and present ....to others he is the ultimate team man plodder punching above his talent weight at best......

I guess the true test of a players real ability is what the opposition fans think of them....a view without rose tinted / black & white glasses....but who really cares, the guy does a job for you boys each week,can't ask for anymore than that I guess.....same as what true WAFL legends like Kenny Hunter, Doug Green, Ross Glendinning etc etc did in their day I guess.....touch wood Simmo earns a WAFL legends inductee berth come end of the day.....like these fellas did.

Seriously Freezin!!!!! I admire the use of sarcasm as much as anyone but I don't think that any of the Swans' supporters commenting on this topic has suggested that Simmo is the best Swans' player of all time. What has occurred is the questioning of Astro's comment that Simmo lacks flexibility which for those who have seen a lot of Simmo's games is contrary to what we have seen.

Of course people are entitled to their own opinions but perhaps there needs to be some semblance or relationship to reality when coming to those opinions.

Perhaps as you are closer you could pop over to Sydney and watch the game and give us a match report.

42....that's your opinion I'm using sarcasm....in reality I am merely stating a fact that a true test of ones overall ability is what opposition fans think of that player.....bias and subjectiveness clouds one opinion.....I think Simpson is a fantastic player for you boys.....is it a travesty he is not playing state footy......mmmmm no not really, it would of been though if the likes of Kenny, Dougie and Rosco weren't picked to represent WA during their hey day tho......ditto for Narkle, Baker et al

but no biggie mate.....you are a SD fan just merely supporting one of your own players.....a player you would watch more closely come match day than an opposing fan would do.....simply because they are watching their own players just as close.....it's ok to wear glasses mate....no matter how rose tinted or black/white they maybe.....just don't get all the subjective bias you guys come out with.......

as for attending the state game.....now Simmo and ROB aren't playing not much point really is there mate?....just won't be the same sadly....

an opinion is not a fact and that is all you have done, give your opinion on what the true value of a footballer is..

yep got me there MO.....thank fark someone is on their game here.....makes a nice change from all these wild arsed opinions about Simmo's ability or lack of it.....well in the eyes of the reigning WAFL premiership coach at least....but what does he know about footy compared to some wide eyed infatuated SD fans who are living the dream at present.

i'd say based on the ladder positions the state coach has as many intersting views on players performances as Swans supporters.
