Well how about that Swans fans? What was a really close game for 3 quarters was completely dominated by the boys in the last quarter in what was one of the most polished and clean team efforts I have seen from Swans for many years.
It was like watching a well oiled machine as they forced the ball out of the centre into a mobile forward line. Subiaco were not able to get into their forward 50 until about half way through the quarter.

Jukes has never played a better game than he did tonight and we had so many other options in the forward line ( Geappan, Cary and Davis) who were all active and caused the Lions defence massive headaches. Rogers was very prominent in his 50th game so all the milestone men played their part.

How good is young Aiden Anderson? Hard to believe he is not 18 yet given the way he attacked the ball and how he threw himself around physically. Elari, Notte, Riggio, Simpson, both Jettas, Ames, all of them contributed to an all round effort.
The team looked desperate and driven tonight, it was obvious that losing on such a special occasion was not an option but it typified what they have been showing all year, these guys are all at Swans because they want to play for the club and for each other. As a supporter it is fantastic to watch this sort of footy because you know that they are giving their all.

There were a few times during the 2nd and 3rd quarters that Subiaco went out to a 1 – 2 goal lead and momentarily threatened to pull away but Swans would always respond with a goal to pull it back and it was the 7 goal third quarter that actually set it up for the boys to run all over them in the last quarter.

Kudos to Greg Harding too, who apart from delivering a spine tingling 3 quarter time address pulled off some pretty good moves as well, such as putting Aaron Jetta in the forward line after half time and his work certainly helped open up some space in the Swans forward 50. I suspect Harding is enjoying this season much more than his first three as he has blended his experienced players in with the young guys to make a perfect combination.

Subiaco were obviously a bit below the standard they had set in their first five games but they are a good side and they will bounce back from what was for them a pretty disappointing night.

I’m not getting carried away, it is obvious that we are only 6 games into the season and significant challenges lay ahead of the boys, but I think we are entitled to enjoy this moment of being equal top of the ladder because it was so unexpected.

The first challenge will be next week when they will go into a game for the first time this season being favourites , but the incentive is if they can win this game they will be more than half way to the number of wins it normally takes to play in September!. Sorry maybe I am getting a bit excited B)

Forgot to mention the Blakely brothers who were prominent tonight as well, in fact there were no passengers in the Swans side. Latch did well until he was KO ed. I notice that Tim Geappen has been reported again according to the WAFL website as well as Waters who I assume was the guy who got Latch?

mikeh, The 3 quarter time address by Greg was so inspiring words, So much so I said to Howard Dawson that makes me want to pull on the boots.

Great wrap up again Mike & it was an outstanding game of WAFL footy and superb win as Subi played well until we got on top in the last qtr. Give me that sort of footy any day of the week over the AFL shite on at the same time. Both sides were down a man in the 1st half with Latch & Kerr going down and we must acknowledge they were missing Hampson who is one of their best players as well but still an outstanding win against the unbeaten top side on their own dunghill! :)

Harding's 3qtr time addresses are gaining momentum every week.

How many weeks does Waters get??? He took Latch out in a deliberate act but will be argued he was going for the ball in an attempt to spoil. If the head is sacrosanct as we keep being told then 4 weeks should be the penalty after he pretty much tried to remove Latch's head from his shoulders. Expect only 2 weeks will be handed down though, which makes a mockery of the whole long term effect of concussion amongst footballers argument. If they really want to stamp it out the punishment needs to err on the harsh side of the fence.

Those at the West on-line website are once again guilty of lazy reporting. The picture of Matt Riggio with short hair playing in sunny daylight conditions sums up how apathetic they have become. Russell Reid & Co, stop taking the piss!!!

I think the Ducks have been a breath of good old fashioned fresh air - they are making the race to the finals a very interesting affair this season
It could go anywhere from here with 7 teams pretty much in it .... awesome !

Thanks for that wrap mate, It was the only game I will miss for the year due to a prior engagement and I am p1ssed off I missed what sounded like an absolute pearler and better than the AFL served up this weekend. Listening to the coverage on 91.3fm in Kalgoorlie kept me on my toes and well done to the boys on another fantastic team effort!
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Nobody from Swans want to comment on the umpiring this week ???
That happens when you win - but the umpiring was shit both ways.
Three decisions made from the umpire further away and some terrible decisions.
Didn't see the count what was it ??? But never fear it had no effect on the game - Subi were shit and beaten fair and square. Don't know about the comment that Subi played well up to 3/4 time ? None of their supporters would agree.

Here goes my observations on that subject: absolute pathetic 50 metre penalties both clubs received. How a player who prior to the attempted decapitation on Latch was not reported for the attempted decapitation of Faulkner boggles the mind. Faulkner takes the mark and receives in this case a legitimate 50 metre and no report is made is inexplicable and nbelievable.

As to the effort by the Swans' boys was what we have come to expect from this team this season and to all Swans' supporters enjoy the ride and try to get as many supporters to come to our next two home games.
