That happens when you win - but the umpiring was shit both ways.
Three decisions made from the umpire further away and some terrible decisions.
Didn't see the count what was it ??? But never fear it had no effect on the game - Subi were shit and beaten fair and square. Don't know about the comment that Subi played well up to 3/4 time ? None of their supporters would agree.

It was only 3 points the difference at 3 qtr time Chop & you boys were playing just as well as we were to that stage ...are you suggesting Swans didnt lift in the last qtr at all or was it a complete case of Subi falling away? From were I was sitting it Swans who lifted big time in the last qtr (maybe to honour our inspirational skipper in his 200th and another loyal club legend in his 100th) after a very even tussle for 3 qtrs!

No you definately lifted in the last and blew us away - We weren't playing good footy up to 3/4 time and any subi supporter would have known that. Was it because of the pressure from swan's ? Probably but we had many players down on form from previous weeks. Subi didn't play well and Swan's played brilliantly - It's that simple realy. I thought the umpires had a shocker affecting both teams equally. Some of the decisions and non-decisions were amazing.

Congrats to Swannies they were far more committed than Subi over the 4 qtrs. and did one of your favourite sons in Ames proud.

Terrific 3 qtrs of hard contested footy, thought that would carry on till the final bell but your boys just blew us away.

Too many Subi passengers and I think Twomey looked like he just couldn't focus against all his old mates, next game will be very different I think having got this one out of the way. Hampson was a massive out plus Rumble down back plus a couple of other first picks injured but I'm sure Swans had a few missing as well.

Cannot sign off without a word about the umpiring which was a disgrace, I'm sure the two eyed SD supporters would agree they did ok from the umps but as Chop said it did not change the outcome considering Swans super last Qtr. Just disappointing that a top of the table clash did not attract the 3 best officials.

PS: The Waters incident was very "clumsy" and would normally attract a sanction but the tribunal has made a rod for it's own back by giving in to the AFL clubs pressure and letting players off or substantially reducing penalties. Prime example was Silvia's behind the play king hit on Mahoney a few weeks ago where he had it reduced from 4 to 2 weeks and Morobito's let off for a head high charge. Based on that and the fact that Waters high contact was in contested play, precedent would dictate that a reprimand would be appropriate, if not it proves the point that the AFL listed players are a protected species.

missed the game but listened in on the radio, good work by the commentators on 91.3, love their passion for the WAFL.

not surprised Twomey's mind was elsewhere, all his mates are playing for Swans and he is only at Subi for the money, he would have felt terrible..

the commentators got very excited when big Stockley bumped Notte and then kicked a goal, sounded like a ripper.

Interesting to read Hardings comments about Matthew Jukes this morning. This guy was a regular reserves player last year who occasionally broke into the league team but didn't set the world on fire and never managed to stay in the team for very long. This year he has been challenged to take his game to a new level and he has responded by showing us the talent he has.

There are other examples apart from Jukes though, who would have thought Ricky Cary would be leading the goal kicking at this stage of the year, Adam Faulkner has been one of our most consistent performers in 2014, Matthew Rogers was in and out of the team last year but has been one of our best this year.Brent Latch, Conor and Nathan Blakely and Alex Howard are others who have made league positions their own in the first 6 games. It is the contribution of these guys that has taken the pressure off the senior players and allowed the load to be shared around the team.

Chopper, agree with your comment that the umps were shit both ways, more the non decisions that were baffling like Jukes mark 25mtr straight out in front of goal when he leapt over the Subi defender and marked bringing the ball to ground before it dislodged on impact with the ump looking on from 10 metres away. I was at that end of the ground at that stage so could see that non decision, as for the decisions in the other half of the ground it was kind of covered in blackness under lighting. Whilst it might be ok for the players to play in, from a spectators point of view the lighting at Leederville is not ideal. It's the 2nd game I've watched down there under lights, the other a colts game v EP last year, and will be the last. I couldn't see a thing on the far side of the ground which kinda takes all the enjoyment out of trying to watch a game of footy. For that reason alone will refrain from commenting too much on the umps, they must have been struggling with their vision also

It was a ripper MO...Notte actually bounced off Frank & hit the ground then Frank proceeded to bomb it home from 50+...Bletch kicked a similar one from a similar position...a big torp straight through the guts...

I suppose with the umpiring if you have the same people coaching them the past few years like Sinclair and co etc then how can we expect anything different from what is being served up now. Change starts at the top
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Agree SD something needs to be done. We are seeing some great games of WAFL footy, high class stuff but the umpiring is going backwards in standard. Saturdays game was totally over umpired with 52 free's being paid (SD 34 SU 18) it would have enhanced the spectacle if those orange dickheads had put the whistle away more often and let the boys get on with it.
