The passion and emotion was still alive and well despite the poor crowd.

I fear that the East Perth/Peel debacle may be the straw that has broken the camel's back with a handful of people on the outer wing where up to a 1,000 would be in recent years.

Thank you WAFC I hope you sleep well at night knowing you have assigned the competition to the irrelevant basket in the eyes of most.

Despite it being an average crowd it may well have been the biggest of the WAFL this round!
And one for anchorman and his "pro alignment buddy's" where are the 5,000 or so Freo & WCE supporters/members you all predicted would turn up to watch their Reserves each week??? I counted approx 25 Freo/Peel fans there!  :S

Haha spot on mate, the silence was deafening when they kicked a goal and the only clapping I could hear was from the players and even that was without spirit. I heard Lyon say tonite that Sylvia played a good game! hahaha as Percy intimated this morning those blokes and that club are just no good, and Freo are in strife with Tabener, Sylvia etc as their depth. The only Freo bloke who really fired a shot was Pearce and he is a black duck at heart! The rest are down hill skiers!
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

No Fremantle fans there?

What did Swan Districts do to promote the game to Fremantle fans? Did they do anything or just opened the gates and wait?

Barn why would Swans advertise for the AFL side ????? Surely if it came down to that , the AFL side might have done their own

Pretty simple, they advertise to AFL fans because everyone that comes to the game pays money at the gate and more than likely pays money to buy food and drink. That money goes to the club.

if anyone thinks West Coast and Freo fans would bother going in big numbers to WAFL games then they have no idea..

Then why do Swan Districts have membership advertising commercials on the big screen during quarter time breaks at the AFL games at Subiaco Oval?

As in any business you must choose your battles with regards to advertising. Would be foolish to advertise to fans of the Peel Thunder. If they do indeed exist, am yet to spot one myself, not even a fence jumper on the weekend, as if they can afford to use their centrelink money for fuel to drive up the freeway let alone pay to get in to the ground. 22 Freo/Peel players at Basso on gameday, as BH said a spectator count of about 6 at their end (support staff excluded), one would think that at least some of their families would come to watch them play. Then again, after what they dished up in the 2nd half, why would you bother :pinch:

Just watched the replay on ABCiview. Damn good standard game actually. Hopefully big Cary carries on like that. Good to see a younger player kick that many. Also that Boekhorst has real talent. Exciting player to watch.

I reckon most of the Peel/Freo fans were on their laptops at home talking about the game on bigfooty.com......these fans are the younger generation, they know fudge all about the WAFL and it's history....they are front running football fans only interested in the sport at the elite level....their knowledge of footy is fudge all....they talk the talk but won't walk it....sheet getting to a footy ground other Patterson Stadium would require them to
(1) have a car/driving license
(2) enough money to put petrol in the car
(3) read a map or afford a nat sav or even a map
(4) be able to read a bus or train time table
(5) afford the fare of a bus / train journey
(6) get out of bed before the WAFL league even starts

They have no respect for the WAFL or grass roots footy and because of this they won't even consider watching/going to a WAFL game unless it is on the TV..or could be live streamed on their laptop.
