southerner...the seating arrangement at AFL games which Subi took advantage of and was open to all other WAFL clubs I might add, ended in 2011 from memory.

No it didn't end, it was extended for another ten or twenty years or something, will probably roll over into the new stadium. You reckon the deal was open to the other 7 wafl clubs? And nobody took it up? Why wouldn't they have? That doesn't make sense.

I say this because Subi will be knocked over for sure once Burswood is commissioned and the costs to the WAFC to hire Burswood for a smaller crowd take

I should reword my original post as , of course , currently minor finals are already being played at top four side's venues

Southerner if they are going to play games at the traditional WAFL grounds, you are limiting the attendance to under 20,000. IS that how we want to go for the biggest game of the WAFL season?

No definitely not the way I/we would like to see it end up - but I am just not confident the WAFL will get to use this new Vic Park stadium ... as yet nothing at all has been mentioned officially at any time when the stadium topic arises in regard to WAFL finals.
And you wouldn't expect that Subi Oval will be kept just for WAFL use .... logically anyway

Hilda a returning player, twomey a good pick up, the others you mention are probably
more second string players I think, one of the victorians was battling to get a game
in the VFL seconds from what I hear, so no outstanding players like Krakouer/Kerr
Johnston or the like, my opinion we are weaker than 2013, no sinclair or the two 18
year olds that that the eagles listed, but still a final four chance mainly because
all of the other wafl clubs have big loses, possibly with the exception of west perth

Hopefully Horsley can reproduce some of his 2011 form but unlikely as he will probably not be playing until around mid season recovering from a knee reco & same with Bletch with his problems be nice but doubtful to return to that form right away, both were prime movers in 2011. McDougal should have a better year with a pre season under his belt. Never saw much of Sheed last season anyway & same Sinclair. Will miss Woody for sure. What happened with Cockie, thought he was returning?? Would be very handy...

all clubs were offered seats at AFL games but only Subi took it up because they had a social premises at the ground which made selling game day packages a lot easier for Subi compared to others.

I'm sure Po Cocko has more info on the subject.

BC, and PO please correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that when the last agreement was signed in the late 90's I think, the Subi management team were smart enough to negotiate 2 alternate exit deals when the agreement terminated and as part of getting Subi out of Subi oval, one was a one off cash settlement for the Subi owned old clubrooms and payout of the lease attached and the other was a 5 year continuation of the seating arrangement (our old members seats in the NW pocket) and let the building lease continue to term which will approx. coincide with the demolition of Subi Oval. The second option was chosen. This is the value of appointing very smart hardnosed business men as presidents and CEO's. There will be no ongoing deal for Subi or any club at Burswood.

If the WAFC were committed to the WAFL clubs long term they would set aside something like 3,500 seats (out of 60k) at the new stadium to be shared amongst the 7 traditional clubs to use and market as they see fit. It would be a simple long term reliable earner for the clubs which would provide some financial stability and recognise the vital part the clubs play in the development of future AFL players.

Yep great idea but the money grabbers wouldn't let it happen.

Even 200 seats to each WAFL club would give some marketing and financial grunt to the local clubs. They could be raffled, used for appreciation in regard to volunteers, given to sponsors, players, used as a bonus system in conjunction with WAFL membership etc etc

Shit and who said Seagulls were stupid ???
