His best is behind him so no loss, was cooked 2nd half of the year and decision making slow. But a worthy Swan Medal winner last year though, good luck where eva he goes

From SF Cook and Banner would be the 2 mids who regularly get into our best. Cook is captain and Banner has a year on his contract to run.

Ok lets get down to brass tacks. This is the team that was selected in the first semi final against East Perth 6 weeks ago and lets speculate how many of this team will be in Black and White next year given some of the comments on this thread

Hams - staying? Although he may be tempted back to SF given his brother is full time there now
Roach - retired
Hildebrandt - gone , apparently back to Subiaco
Robinson question mark, may be leaving
Boekhurst staying
Ames staying ( assuming he decides to go around again)
Jetta staying
Twomey - looks like he is leaving
Davis - staying
Riggio - staying ( under contract)
Garlett - almost certain to be drafted
Lobb - likely to be drafted
Simpson -staying
Howard - staying ( possibility of being drafted)
Embley - retired
Notte - staying
Geappen- staying
Faulkner- staying
Elari - staying
Cameron- likely to be drafted
Bennell - gone to East Perth
Ugle -staying

So there's only half of that team that you could be confident about staying next year. Also Lachie Neale has left although his presence at WAFL level will be fairly limited anyway. Murray Newman is still on the Eagles list I think, so he goes off to East Perth as well. Other question marks surround Casserly, Blight and Rogers, but I would hope that all those guys would suit up again.

Whatever way you look at it, there is going to be a large gap in the experience level of the team in 2014. Also, given the clubs financial position, there is little capacity to recruit any big name players to fill these gaps and whereas this may be good in the long term as Swans can develop some young players who want to play for the club, there may be some short term pain on the field in 2014 IMO.
