So far in the 4 games this season our scores have been-
8.7 (55)
6.6 (42)
8.10 (58)
6.12 (48)
And when I look at the side the selectors pick week in week out I wonder how on earth we are going to even get close to kicking what I consider should be the target for each game (100 points).
For far too long our focus has been on defending instead of scoring!
Yesterday-
8.9 (57)

These scoring issues actually go back to late last season as well, we havent scored over 88 points in a game in our last 15 games and in fact only did it 3 times last year as well and that was with the likes of Rokahr, Edwards, Glass-McCasker playing.
Now these numbers should have been well known to our FD but what did they do about getting some decent forward talent in over the off season???........

BH this is just the history of our club.
We develop a premiership window team every 20 years. In modern day Wafl that will be a small window.
Not like 1961,62,63. Or 1982-83-84.
In between thoes 20 year gaps.We spend most of our time on the bottom of the ladder. Some competitive teams in between thoes 20 year eras.
Like 1974-75,.1980-81......1990........1991-92--93--94-2016 2024.And the build up to the 2010 GF.2007-08-09.
And yesterday was historic Swans.Watched the game on 7.Did we have 1500  at the game.At least 50% of our fans disapear. And wont come back till we start winning again. We could have another 5 years of this.
This is 90 years of the Swan District's football club.
This is all true GTR but what has our club done to arrest these continual seasons of just falling in a heap?
What expertise have we added to the club in any of these football areas (coaching, recruiting, skills, S&C, fitness,  development) since the Preliminary Final last year when it was obvious to some of us we were a fair way off the top few sides and with an aging side who were not going to get any better to lift us further???

From the outside looking in BH.
Our crowds are well down on 15 years ago. The last time we,where a power Wafl club.Maby down from 4,500 a home game to 1,500.
Thats a big loss of revenue.Home gate, food, bar. We where matching $ubi in recruits, back then. That affect who we can get to the club. Both on and off the field.
Hanson,Krakourer ,Toomey,Swooper and a few others like Brian Dawson.
It will need a bit of luck and good recruiting to turn, this around.Need a gun Colts side and Ressies.Give up on 25 and play the kids.
BH you know what Swans are like.We just accepting of  this as our history.

Kohlmann looked like the only one who was going to kick goals - Marlin looked vulnerable for us - but for some reason, the Black Ducks refuse to kick the ball direct. There was one bit of play where someone was streaming through the middle and could've launched it forward but they kicked it out wide 45 degrees to the winger - who was under pressure. Even on the footage, the supporters were screaming "Kick it" as they handball around in circles.

Can see why the supporters are frustrated! Because that team on paper is better than kicking 55 points a game or whatever it is

I just dont understand how the coaches can think that Jesse Turner getting the ball nearly 40 times a week is beneficial for us.
He demands the footy from younger players, abuses them when he doesnt get it and constantly turns 1 possession into 2 with no gain in territory.
He butchers the ball regularly and the opposition absolutely torch him going the other way.
Give me 20 hard tocuhes instead and towards our goal preferably.
He is stat padding and has done for many years.

JT was a big advocate for Pruyn and this is why. Unfortunately Pruyn has fallen into the trap of having different standards for different players and once this becomes obvious to the team it will create division and disharmony if the team isn’t winning.

so now Kohlmann is going to be out for an extended period with a hamstring injury. He is the only player in the current team capable of kicking multiple goals so where do we go now?

As for the broader conversation I reckon the football department got complacent after our 3rd place finish last year and thought that we would be up there contending there again this season. So we have not matched the recruiting campaigns of teams like Perth, South Fremantle and West Perth and we are now playing the worst football in the WAFL. There is no teamwork or system in the group and they all look like they are playing for themselves. Meanwhile the ressies are playing a much more direct style of footy and are scoring at least 12 goals a game.

Whilst embarrassing, maybe a wooden spoon this year may not be such a bad thing long term as surely it would trigger a shake up of the footy department. Pruyn is not the answer and also Smart has been there for too long, needs to move on

This occurred before the season's start with GM walking out and a few others dissatisfied with Howard's grooming as a forward. That didn't work...

I would like to see the guys in reserves, particularly the young ones, get rewarded for their victories with EXTENDED exposure to league. Whats the point of giving a guy like Cottelessa who is burning it up in the ressies,  a taste of league footy for 1 week then dropping him again, makes zero sense.  Same applies to Harvey, Kane, Reiger, Fitzgerald and Alforque. The club needs to look beyond 2025 now and look at who of these players are taking the club forward in years to come

We had the perfect opportunity to give some of the young guys a good crack at League footy in the first 4-8 weeks of this season with first the loss of Edwards just before the pre season games started and with Collins, Pasini, Trew, Clarke, Hilton, Bright, Ireland etc all being out injured or unavailable but instead we went back to the same old veterans who it was evident were pretty much done last year and they just havent been able to deliver.
Some of those young guys were actually some of our better players in the very underwhelming pre season games we played and yet were still overlooked come rd1.
Season 2026 should start right now and that includes scouring the country for the best available talent be it players, coaches, staff....
