Very good player Clark but because he has been playing in a poor side(when he gets selected) he hasn’t really been given a chance to show his ability.I doubt he has other clubs knocking down the door although he deserves better attention. At least Subi will be happy!

Thats interesting Chaddy, he certainly looked a class above anyone else at Bassendean yesterday and he was responsible for the majority of their centre take aways. If he is not being given the opportunity at the Eagles I'm sure there are other clubs who would be interested in him because on yesterdays performance he definitely has what it takes.

Putting aside all the excitement of Tom Edwards goal after the siren, Swans supporters would realise that this last gasp victory was against a side rooted to the bottom of the ladder with only a draw to their credit in 14 games. We were very lucky to come away with the points and once again it is frustrating that the team can come out and beat a top 5 team one week and then the next week produce the rubbish that they did yesterday. Overuse of handball, poor kicking to targets, lack of effort by many players. It is 100% a mindset thing.
Agree with the above highlighted Mike.
It looked to me most of the group seemed to think just turning up would be enough yesterday but this current WCER of the last couple of weeks is a lot stronger than those turned out earlier in the season in which at times only 1 or 2 first year rookies took the field eg Dewar or Baker.
The likes of Clark, Edwards, Trew, Jamieson, Rotham, Winder etc certainly give them a bit more run and class and many of those are fighting to stay on the list in the well paid afl gravy train over the next month, whilst even some of their better WAFL players in Sumich, Creasey & Deegan are now back and fit after missing games earlier. They will certainly cause more cheek in the last 4 games if WCE get the likes of Yeo, McGovern, Barrass etc back and dont lose any more to injury although Shuey went down again. You can see if WCE have a good run with injuries next season they will be strong and dont need the reported concessions on offer when they struggled to field a team. I dont see perennial strugglers Perth & Swans getting huge concessions every year?!

Back to Swans a few things I have noted from our block of games between byes over the last few weeks-
Our field kicking has been awful at times even our usually reliable better kicks at the club, and highlighted more when we try and hit targets wide on the boundary and inevitably kick it out on the full, how about looking for targets in better field positions eg down the corridor, this going wide down the boundary style is utter rubbish!
The umpiring has been bewildering, baffling and so inconsistent from one contest to the next, they seem to miss the bleeding obvious frees and then pay the tiggy touchwood rubbish!
We were smashed at the clearances, stoppages and need to better position ourselves around them to prevent such easy exits especially from our forward half as I lost count how many times opposition sides have gone almost coast to coast against us from their back half and our forwards have to be more accountable in chasing and locking the ball in our forward half!
We have to apply greater scoreboard pressure when we have the momentum and dominating the play, too often we give it up with silly decision making, a poor kick, overuse the handball, going wide into the pockets etc we leave the door open for the opposition and hence why we are invariably in these dog fights right up until the final siren or even after......that was the 3rd game this season we have had a kick after the siren to win for a 2-1 record!

I do not think a single Swans' supporter that has followed the performances for the season was surprised with the closeness of yesterday's game. We could front Redcliffe U16's at Selby Park and still play a tight one.

It was remarkable that it took a stressful situation - losing to a pathetic AFL team - for the team to play direct football. With 90 seconds to go Turner marked on the wing. ALL GAME, ALL SEASON, Jesse would have looked around for someone to handball too - even with hand cocked even though there was no one there. But this time he played on and kicked long. Boys, you know how to do it...

I remember Bill Holmes kicking the winner after the siren against EF in 1968, and Maxie George doing similar - but in more spectacular fashion as Max would do - against WP in '74. But twice in one season? Despite our frustrations, we certainly have got our money's worth.

I was really impressed with Kemp on Saturday, he knows where to position himself, is clever and quick and he is the best kick in the team IMO.

If WC dont want Greg Clark, he's more than welcome back at Subi. A class player and a class bloke who's wasting his talents at Wet Toast.

Spot on Mike. He was dropped for the game against WP, but really fired since his return to the league team. His pace gives Swans an advantage across the half-forward line.
