We were pretty ordinary for the most parts of the game.
We started well but missed some very gettable set shots from inside our 50 (like the last qtr the week previous) and from that the WCER seemed to grow in confidence lead by their more experienced heads in Sheed, Yeo, Petruccelle, Strnadica & with Dixon up forward who was marking strongly and giving them a target.
I will bypass our 2nd qtr as it was as bad as we have played all year.
After half time we did lift our rating a bit and started to use the ball better which in turn actually made WCER have to chase us and this probably told late in the game as even with a slight breeze they barely went forward in the last qtr.
I cant comment on the Yeo incident as I was watching the ball down the ground but he was pretty vocal for most of the day especially early when they were on top giving the SD boys plenty of "advice" but that may have grown into frustration late in the game as the WCER got further behind.
Was a pretty good crowd too considering their were only a handful of Eagles cronies there, good knows who these old folk supported in the WAFL long before there even was an WCE but they have all bar forgotten them know!

For Swans we would have to play 99% better than that next week against a fully stacked of Fremantle players Peel who could have Fyfe again plus a few others who were out with sickness.
I agree with Mike the WCER will be a lot stronger in the second half of the season when they start getting players back from injury, the likes of Nelson, Cole, Naish, Waterman, Edwards, Rotham, Winder, Jamieson, B.Williams, Petreski-Seton etc will be playing more WAFL as their established players come back in Naitanui, Rioli, Ryan, Allen, McGovern, Hurn, Yeo, Sheed etc play afl.
Those teams that got them with only 2 or 3 rookies must be giggling to themselves with the large % increases they returned after filling their boots against them!

Haven't heard of Swans suffering any injuries out of yesterdays win?
If they can go into next weeks match with a full contingent, there's no reason they can't register another win.

Swans will have to play a lot better against Peel WAG. They have more A grade players than the Eagles and if Swans don't play 4 quarters we will be beaten.

Your right Mikeh, unlike WCER Peelmantle, along with the 12 or so listed players have some quality in their WAFL ranks, the likes of Bell and co make them a very hard team when they get loaded up with AFL. That wont change unless Freo cop a heap of injuries or covid. They could well repeat what they did in '16 and '17, except this time it wont be Subi on the end of it. I can only imagine the wringing of hands and wailing that would happen if a loaded Peelmantle roll any of the main contenders in WP, EF, CL or SF in the GF

Apparently Yeo got a week for his striking charge, bit of a surprise he got that given he's a WC player. Wonder if they will appeal.

According to that clown who replaced another bozo Zempilas on the Ch7 sport news he reckoned he would get off with a fine.
I dont think the bloke knows anything about the WAFL whatsoever!

They may decide not to challenge the one week ban because
1. Their AFL team has a bye this week
2. There may be a possibility that the tribunal increases the penalty to two weeks- it didnt look good on the replay.

An interesting stat from this game that no one seems to have picked up.
The Eagles actually had more AFL listed players playing in this game than Peel did vs Subiaco at the same time.
It obviously got lost in all the hoo haa over Fyfe & Yeo!

I was a long way from the incident but the umpire was standing right there and was he the one that reported Yeo and if so why didn’t he reverse the free kick ?
I like Yeo as a player but he probably got a shock when Clarke went after him after the incident as they went at it for another 5 minutes, Clarke won’t back down
