I think we were a couple ahead when the rain came last time so Subi by 24 points in an entertaining game. Is Gault going to be available do you know as I read he played out last week with a bit of an injury?

In my non-medical opinion I highly doubt he will be available for selection for that game or against Claremont the following week.

After yet another poor performance against a top 4 team in WP last week we front up to the perennial top team themselves in Subi at Leederville coming off a rare loss to a WCER side that had a Norm Smith Medallist, 3 afl Premiership players and 12 Eagles listed players and even then only just went down.
For Swans surely some changes need to be made as the same players who have been extremely poor for a number of weeks just cant keep getting opportunities others deserve, whilst Bayok & Turner were injured.
Jetta should come back in whilst a number of consistent players in the Ressies deserve a chance that havent played League as yet this season.
Once again SD supporters (minus the odd hat eater) will be looking for SD to actually do something against one of SU, CL, SF or WP for a change, as 1 win from their last 25 clashes against these teams in the current Pickering era is utterly disgraceful and should be a complete embarrassment for everyone involved at Bassendean!

BH ....I’d be interested to hear which reserves players deserve a chance up top. Rumours of a bit of unrest down below from players in form who keep ticking boxes but ain’t getting chances up top. To be fair this is pretty common among frustrated ressie players. In your opinion who is ready and deserves a run??? I ain’t been watching that closely só genuinely interested in your evaluation👍

DW for a start I would play Gault as a tall forward as we lack a big presence inside 50 as Palmer is only a mid size whilst the promising young  Edwards has height but is only slight at this stage and would be more productive as a 3rd tall in the forward line imho.
That would require Germs to come in as the ruckman with support from Gault.
Even Jones could go forward and bring Ireland in to support Notte, Erceg, Howard etc down back.
Noble was very disappointing on Saturday and might need a spell in the Ressies.
Others that have put their hand up include Jetta obviously plus Bain possibly for the injured midfield pair of Bayok & Turner,  whilst More have been knocking on the door of selection .
Dugan, Hilton & Hughes I would like to see get an opportunity, all have been playing as defenders so may need a slight restructure down there although there is no way I would have Waite playing down back as he coughs up at least a goal a qtr through sloppy play, poor kicking/decision making.
Garcia is a little goer and would at least apply some tackle pressure unlike most of the League team on the weekend whilst Ralph is another mid who has shown some promise in his first season at Basso so far in the Ressies.

Out of interest considering our poor record against the Top 4 (SU, CL, SF & WP) over the last 5 or so seasons can anyone remember a time where we have outcoached the opposition with a game plan that has caught them completely off guard or allowed us to outplay the opposition?

Considering the game plan hasn’t changed in 3 and a half years that would be a no.
we have no idea how to stop a teams run on

Thanks for the confirmation MO, I couldnt remember any game where I have thought we outcoached the opposition who were superiorly more talented than us and that record of 1 win (against WP where Nelson was injured early) from our last 25 games against any of SU, CL, SF & WP also suggested that as well!

This may be why they have employed Ric Charlesworth. I think he could offer more to the coaches in relation to plans and strategies rather than player interaction.

Germs has been named in the team this week which may indicate that Gault is in serious doubt even though he is slotted in the ruck position as usual. Jetta back which is not surprising. Bayok is out injured and Waite has been named in the reserves even though he is on the league extended bench which indicates that the selectors have probably lost patience with him.

I would trial Waite as a small forward in the Ressies.
He does have some pace and elusiveness but is far too loose and mistake prone to be a small defender.

Germs gives us a bit more height and physicality up forward, I assume Gault will also spend more time in the forward line  assuming he plays.

It was clear last week that West Perth were taller, faster and more physical than Swans. Our players were often pushed aside by a more desperate opposition. That will have to change tomorrow if we want to even compete with Subi.

Lewis Jetta is playing his first league game since he got suspended for his hit on Delahunty. Hopefully Lewis can channel his aggression into getting the ball this time. He is an important player for Swans but he needs to be playing games rather than sitting on the sidelines.
