Well done Swans clearly the better team from the opening bounce, your two big rucks were the key and you killed us in the air around the ground plus far more precise with your delivery, consistently hitting up targets, something we failed to do all day apart from late in the game when your boys started to feel the pinch. The scoreline flattered Subi given your 4 posters and several misses from 20-25m out, should have won by 4 or 5 goals, but in some ways a 1point win is sweeter.
great round for the comp that evened up the top 5 but now a big gap to the bottom half.

MO your umpires whinge about the last qtr can be matched by my whinge about the previous 3 qts if you like. Enjoy the win, not the whinge.

Really impressive yesterday down to the wire felt so much like a do or die finals games Erceg was so key throughout the game Howie to only keeping sokol to one. colts continuously showing how good they are as a team with changes happening every week and the psa boys back in. Best on easily Germs, Bain, Erceg, Riley and Gault

Howard's two touches for the day is the reason why the number of disposals is not the best stat for determining a defender's performance.

Agreed totally, and that goal was free kick from a soft holding free by Jones.
I thought Bright was not up to the standard as his disposal can be poor but prefer him to Waite any day, quick and hard and plays for the jumper, he destroyed that little no 34

Couldn't get to the game yesterday unfortunately but sounds like it was a fantastic  performance by the players. To hold Subiaco to 8 goals on a fine day was a great effort by our defence and it sounds like Germs made a real difference in the big man department. Looks like Jesse Palmer is due for some goal kicking practice this week. Don't worry about umpiring decisions, just enjoy the fact that Swans have beaten Subiaco for the first time in 6 years and it is also the first time Subiaco has lost 2 consecutive qualifying games since 2014. Now can we bring the same intensity to Claremont next week?

DW for a start I would play Gault as a tall forward as we lack a big presence inside 50 as Palmer is only a mid size whilst the promising young  Edwards has height but is only slight at this stage and would be more productive as a 3rd tall in the forward line imho.
That would require Germs to come in as the ruckman with support from Gault.
Even Jones could go forward and bring Ireland in to support Notte, Erceg, Howard etc down back.
Noble was very disappointing on Saturday and might need a spell in the Ressies.
Others that have put their hand up include Jetta obviously plus Bain possibly for the injured midfield pair of Bayok & Turner,  whilst More have been knocking on the door of selection .
Dugan, Hilton & Hughes I would like to see get an opportunity, all have been playing as defenders so may need a slight restructure down there although there is no way I would have Waite playing down back as he coughs up at least a goal a qtr through sloppy play, poor kicking/decision making.
Garcia is a little goer and would at least apply some tackle pressure unlike most of the League team on the weekend whilst Ralph is another mid who has shown some promise in his first season at Basso so far in the Ressies.
Good to see the coaching staff, selection committee are taking notes from ozfooty!

Well at last we have beaten a Top 4 team and on their home ground too, not to mention some extra help (x 3) the opposition had as well.
It was pretty evident from the first bounce we came with the right attitude and ferocity to take it up to one of these teams and with better precision in front of goal we could have iced it a bit earlier but that never seems to be the SD way.
Now we have to back it up against another Top 4 side CL at their home ground to prove this hard fought win was not a fluke one off?!

Swans have 8 games to play in the qualifying round. We have already played Subiaco and West Perth twice. So in the remaining games we play South Fremantle twice and the rest of the teams ( barring WP and S) once.
We would need to win 4 out of these 8 games to be sure of a spot in the top 5.  The win over Subiaco will give them some sense of belief that if they bring their best footy to any game they are capable of beating anybody. Assuming COVID doesnt impact on the fixtures, the next three weeks will tell a lot about where Swans stand in the competition with games against Claremont, a resurgent West Coast and South Fremantle coming up. The good thing is that after travelling to Tigerland this week, we will have 3 games in a row at Bassendean.
