Last week or this week who cares Tony is an ornament to the game, one of my favourite opposition players and arguably the best contested mark in the comp.

Probably the best side Swans could put out at the moment with Jetta, Turner and Riggio all named. Subiaco have a few back as well. It remains to be seen how the weather will impact on the game. If the rain comes in the early afternoon it could be a low scoring slog. Hopefully the boys can put up a decent performance in front of a state wide TV audience and more importantly in recognition of Tony Nottes 250th.

Reasonably competitive performance - poor kicking with way too much lazy kicks around corners in wet conditions in that last qtr costing us dearly - at least a dozen chances of going forward effectively ruined by butchered kicking across the body that travelled half distance straight in to the arms of Subi defenders -so frustrated to lose that one but I guess i gotta respect the fact I actually allowed the thought we might be able to beat Subi actually cross my mind for a minute or 2 - been a long while since I’ve considered such foolish optimisms

Nice post DW. Tide seemed to be turning there but subi backline turned it back in the last, King Canute style . That's a bit of an exaggeration but was a seesawing game.

That was our chance to beat Subiaco and we couldn't do it.  After a wasteful first half Swans played an absolutely brilliant 3rd quarter to have all the momentum leading into the last change. Then an ideal start to the last quarter with Jesse Palmer converting to put us in front at the 4 minute mark. Then the whole game changed, Subiaco flicked a switch,  rediscovered their resolve and basically had the ball on a string for the final 20 minutes of the game. Swans just completely lost their composure and their self belief evaporated in the face of repeat inside 50s from the opposition. On the odd occasion that Swans got the ball, Subiaco were set up to repel any attacks. Credit to them, they were absolutely looking down the barrel in the early stages of the last quarter and they found a way to get over the line which would have to be very satisfying to their coaching staff and supporters.

As for Swans this was an immensely frustrating result. Even though Subiaco were dominating possessions and inside 50's we had still played well enough to put ourselves in touching distance of a victory but ultimately deep down Swans didnt really believe they could do it when push came to shove. That makes it 12 losses in a row to Subiaco. Honourable losses just don't cut it any more for me. Until Swans start winning some games against teams like Subiaco, Claremont, West Perth and South Fremantle they will be just making up the numbers in the competition.

One stat Subi didn't dominate was the free kick count ...go figure.  Kudos to your boys though as they don't blow the whistle and had a red hot crack in very difficult conditions.

Forgot to mention well done to the reserves and colts boys for claiming hard fought wins
The Colts with a number of players out- Bazzo, E.Hewett, Farmer, Sibosado etc were fantastic Mike.
The Reserves started well then as we have seen with our League team went to sleep for a qtr or 2 and then played a magnificent last qtr to overrun Subi with the late goal to win by O'Sullivan a soccer out of mid air a ripper.
The League were brave but didnt play the wet weather smart enough with far too many handballs by the mids and also allowing Litherland to just park himself unattended across the middle backward of the centre circle and then proceed to kick it to him on every break forward...any chance of someone going to him to make him accountable...as Palmer showed when one on one with him he was susceptible?!

On a side note what an appalling turnout from the Subiaco supporters yet again no wonder the club doesnt bother with a luncheon when we play them, even with all their recent dominant success they are still the poorest attendees to games at Basso along with Peelmantle who at least have travel as an excuse!

As an aside Bob the hat eater has been conspicuous by his absence....must be doing some overtime to pay for all of the steak dinners he owes with the losses against the Top 4 teams continuing to mount up!
