When I first came on this site the first person to respond to one of my posts was Swan42. I'm sure most long time posters will remember him. Needless to say he was a fair bit further to the left than most people on this website, and he rubbed some up the wrong way but I always found him articulate and respectful in what he said even though I didn't agree with all of his views.
Outer Seagull, Swandog, Mark Olsen, Cardy, Leedy, Anchorman and Talking footy were also prominent contributors when I first joined. Some of these were banned, Most came back with other user names.
Actually come to think of it, this might have been the old Footygoss site. I have been around for too long

Yep Swan42 was very very active, and yes all those names Swandog another one Grassy all go back to the Footygoss days when the late Ron Head Oslumsbird was running tipping and things and had great articles including from George G The Griller, the site eventually crashed.

Swan42 was basically running a free add campaign for the ALP and seemed to be a bit obsessed, no idea what happened to him but he disappeared years back.  Grassy was another prominent poster and a lefty but his strange cryptic posts got more and more wacko as time went on and it was no surprise he got the flick. Swandog was just outright aggro.

Wonder if these jokers are still alive.

My 2 cents worth as a long time poster

Set some clear rules and protocols for online behaviour and apply them consistently to everybody. This consistency has been sadly lacking on this website. I know there has been a code of conduct but based on some of the posts I have read many people seem blissfully unaware of it.
Well said, Mike.

As one of those on TT's very revealing list of absent friends, I couldn't help but reflect on why I decided to be a lurker, rather than contributor, about 5 years ago.

The revelations in this thread caused me to re-visit my previous last few posts back in 2020, to understand why I made that decision.

It basically came down to inconsistency, and what I thought then was favouritism ie why was I being threatened, or actually sinned binned, when I had PM'd the Admin asking why another party was apparently free to post what they liked. So I decided that rather than walk that tightrope, I would just take a sabbatical.

Now knowing that the Admin I was talking to was also the poster who I was raising questions about, and who at the same time was disingenuously stating they were not a Mod, confirms my point. And if this thread is anything to go by, nothing seems to have changed much.

I wonder how many others on the list share similar thoughts? I would welcome a revival of OzFooty, and a re-appearance of some "missing" members under the new owner, but I again revert back to Mike's sentiments above.

I'm sure this will be seen by at least one member as "shit-stirring", but it really isn't.
I have to agree with you. After all the shit fights on FG I welcomed this place as a fresh start but I too could see some major inconsistencies in how some topics were moderated so I just decided to lurk.

Anyway all the best moving forward - in general I think we're all nicer to each other these days because we share one thing in common - our love of the WAFL and the realisation that a little bit of it is continually eroded each year as those who remember the glory days pass on and the all conquering AFL continues to make us irrelevant.

Needs a long long overdue tidy up..

The Bar Break and General News, wtf is the difference, no body sticks to it, cut it back to General News and Breaking.

AFL
Adelaide nothing for nearly 8 years,,,LMAO.. several others 3, 4 and 5 years,

You only need AFL - Dockers and Eagles and then a Thread for other teams.

Soccer, a total mess - even funnier most teams have not had single post EVER, , tidy that up A League and then Glory.
Have an EPL and an International - ditch the rest.
Basketball, one folder needed only.
Motorsport the same Cars and Bikes in one.
Racing the same Racing and Pacing(SFA Interest) one only needed.
i'm all for culling dead sub-forums and reducing where possible. Going into each sub-forum is a tiresome process and the volume here for the amount of traffic is simply unnecessary. This is why so many more people join facebook forums because everything is so much more immediate - so for those calling for modernisation a reduction in sub-forums is the way to go.

IF this site continues as a forum for WAFL fans who can chat about other things as well then I'd go even further - just one soccer chat - agree with you on the news - but again one 'general news' thread should be enough - why do we even need 'breaking'.

Cricket also only needs one thread too.

I'd also fold Perth Football League into one.

And given the growth of womens football these days you might want to cull " WA Womens Football Leagues (WAFLW & PFL) " and rename WAFL chat to WAFL/WAFLW chat and encourage discussion about both genders under each club. I suspect we have very few females on here and if you want this thing to grow encouraging them here would be a good start.

I think you are right alahoy, the immediate tidy set up of Facebook forums is preferred now, and as you say fossicking through messy doubled up folders and forums puts people off.

Cardy & his wife moved to Canberra to be closer to the grandkids. Cardy became despondent with the site. I noticed he did a post after a few years absence, the post was none football, it may have been a political statement. I have rang him a couple of times with no answer or return calls.
