I spent 69/70 in Perth and me and the mates choice was the Raffles, but I didn’t see DD there Freeze.

Hi everyone, apologies for radio silence, family drama, then the Easter holidays. I'm still working on a solution for DMs and potentially a completely new platform with everything migrated over. Rest assured it's been worked on.

The SF thread is basically down to two of us now - Southy ( who's the mod.) and myself,  once had a regulars, Roman, Dwert, South4Ever, and a few others all long since gone. 

I think the important thing to remember is this is pretty much the last and only WAFL blog, discussion site, and that is reflected in the traffic, the trad clubs get the most posts and most footy news discussed is WAFL related, most are here because it's the only suburban touchstone we have, there are Facebook groups which are good, but not as good as a community board like this.

WAFL closed the chat site down on its website ages ago.

There are a plethora of options for the AFL clubs, and other sports as well..EPL fans wont be coming here for big chat meet ups.

My point is lets focus on whats working and what posters are drawn to, thats my core feedback.

So why did the WAFL site close?

I recall logging on in about 2011 or 2012 might have been a bit earlier and saw some violent threats between some Perth supporters - cannot remember the names of these guys but it was probably the worst online stuff I've seen
the site was just shutdown in a matter of days afterwards permanently

sadly it is confirmed that some of those guys are deceased - some of the lost posters were in fact dual & triple and in certain cases even more login characters 
and then there's some who have just given away the game because it's been ruined as a spectacle
I know certain WAFL club player legends who captained their sides who refuse point blank to even watch the game nowadays

You have pretty much summed it up well Southerner. Some just front runners jump on board when they are up and about looking rosy. 

This site works best when people are talking footy. The absolute worst of posters are whingers always picking a fight and the actual topic gets lost and it puts people off. That's why this forum hasn't tolerated that kind of behaviour in the last 7 or 8 years otherwise it would have bitten the dust a long time ago.

As one of those on TT's very revealing list of absent friends, I couldn't help but reflect on why I decided to be a lurker, rather than contributor, about 5 years ago.

The revelations in this thread caused me to re-visit my previous last few posts back in 2020, to understand why I made that decision.

It basically came down to inconsistency, and what I thought then was favouritism ie why was I being threatened, or actually sinned binned, when I had PM'd the Admin asking why another party was apparently free to post what they liked. So I decided that rather than walk that tightrope, I would just take a sabbatical.

Now knowing that the Admin I was talking to was also the poster who I was raising questions about, and who at the same time was disingenuously stating they were not a Mod, confirms my point. And if this thread is anything to go by, nothing seems to have changed much.

I wonder how many others on the list share similar thoughts? I would welcome a revival of OzFooty, and a re-appearance of some "missing" members under the new owner, but I again revert back to Mike's sentiments above.

I'm sure this will be seen by at least one member as "shit-stirring", but it really isn't.
