Half-centuries in consecutive Shield matches for Jackson Bird, Southerner.
He's not a bad bloke to come in at No.10.
I agree with you that we're up against it.
Even if we score at four runs an over tomorrow we'll still be around 100 runs behind by stumps.
Mitch Marsh might aim to bat until an hour after tea (assuming we're not dismissed) and declare.

They really have nowhere to go now ADGM, the follow on figure is 364 which will take them most of the day if they get there. Even if Marsh declares 150 behind he is relying on Wade to set a target on the last day which he has no incentive to do and why should he? Tasmania can't make the final. It will probably fizzle out to an early finish on day 4 which is a shame. Why the curator would produce such a road in a crucial game for WA is very hard to understand. You would think they could have produced a pitch that would have provided a more even contest between bat and ball which would have then made an outright win either way a possibility.

Mike, our only hope is that Queensland loses few (if any) wickets between overs 64 and 100 today and we can make enough first-innings runs to bridge the 2.13 bonus points that I estimate we're currently behind NSW (having been 1.33 points adrift before the current round began).
In our favour is that Queensland really only needs to occupy the crease to guarantee themselves a Shield berth and likely hosting rights given the WA-Tasmania encounter on the WACA road will likely be a draw.
Based on their first-innings scorecard, I reckon the Blues were about 5-310 after 100 overs, equating to 1.10 batting points.
We only took five wickets during Tassie's first 100 overs at the crease, giving us 0.50 bowling points (NSW has 0.20 bowling points after 63 overs in the field).
If we score in excess of 413 and NSW fails to take any more Queensland wickets before 100 overs are up, you just never know.
WA will have a fair idea of the state of play in Wollongong when play resumes at the WACA.
I hope our batsmen can show some urgency at the crease once Cam Bancroft and Sam Whiteman negotiate the first half-hour today.
It's better if WA is all out for 450 after 100 overs than being, say, 5-350.

Two days remaining isn't enough to fit 3 and a bit innings completion - it's all over unless some sort of miracle or the pitch somehow turns into a New Delhi special
Tasmania had to be bowled out on the first day and that did not happen

I was puzzled by WA's decision to put Tasmania in to bat at the WACA today. Their wins this year have been set up by batting first, putting up a solid first innings score and dictating the game from there. Maybe they thought that they could roll the Tasmanians quickly given the humid weather. Didn't work unfortunately and unless they can take early wickets with the new ball tomorrow and dismiss them for under 300, the Warriors will find themselves chasing the game for the last 3 days.
Meanwhile NSW posted a solid first day score against Queensland but there is a major rain storm due to hit the NSW coast on Monday which could well wash out this day and perhaps the tuesday. There is a spot in the final there for WA's taking. What we will find out in the next 3 days is whether they are good enough to claim it.
No surprise here Mike they are completely clueless down there at the WACA from the ceo (more interested in silly buckethead & womens cricket) down the management line and should all be removed as another year gets added on to our 23 year Sheffield Shield drought!

Just another piss weak performance put up by WA when all on the line in the last 22 years.
It is about time some heat went on the so called leaders at that WACA organisation starting with womens & buckethead cricket lover Matthews!

Not entirely disagreeing with your point there Freezin but I think you are being a little harsh on the Tasmanian bowling attack. They did bowl NSW out for 32 a few weeks ago!
Overall it was a very disappointing end to the season for the Warriors ( again). They choked when it mattered most and what was the most painful was that a victory would have had them host the final but they just weren't up to it. Tasmania had no incentive to win but they totally outplayed WA from the start.
WA won the toss but inexplicably put the Apple Islanders in to bat and immediately handed them an advantage that they never gave up. No WA player really performed up to scratch with either bat or ball whereas there were a number of stand out performances for the Tasmanians
I'm not sure if WA still has a chance of making the one day final but based on that performance you wouldn't be putting any of your hard earned on it.
