Great to see the Vic youngsters step up and play their part in that win over NSW...yep Archie, young Fraser-McGurk definitely showed some mettle in getting his side over the line....one for the future no doubt.

Starc got smashed again I see...probably underdone this time...as for Lyon...yep a few weeks too late unfortunately....Smith got two identical deliveries from two young Vic fast bowlers...Perry looks nice and tidy with an economical bowling technique...

Very rare that Steve Smith has twin failures in any game, Freez.
Match figures of 22-3-104-1 for Mitch Starc in a game where 36 wickets fell for 683 runs indicates he's struggling.
That said, the wicket seemed to be a good, old-fashioned SCG turner.
The fact Starc is a left-arm paceman counts in his favour, but whether he lines up in the First Ashes Test (presumably at the Gabba) is anybody's guess.

Crucial game against the bottom team SA coming up this weekend. The Crow Eaters have Travis Head and Alex Carey who are both capable of tearing attacks apart and WA are certainly depleted so its not going to be easy. This is a real opportunity for a guy like Cam Bancroft to reestablish his career as a first class cricketer

SA will be at virtual full strength with only K.Richardson (who is really only a white ball bowler) and could have an attack that consists of fine swing bowlers Worrall, Sayers & W.Agar and promising young all rounder Scott, so they will be no easybeats.
SA squad- Hunt, Bosisto, Scott, Head (C), Carey (w/k), Lehmann, Neilsen, Grant, Kelly, W.Agar, Sayers, Worrall.

WA as discussed before have some 9 players unavailable on a silly Buckethead Junket in NZ but will still field a reasonable line up.
The 13 man squad- Bancroft, Whiteman, S.Marsh (C), Green, Cartwright, Carder, Inglis (w/k), Hardie, Paris, Kelly, Gannon, Guthrie & O'Connor (2 to be omitted).

Jobs for the boys still well and truly alive in WA cricket - Voges reappointed in a very much closed shop affair

WA are getting belted all over the park by SA's Hunt & Head for goodness sake.
And I see the WACA have given Voges another 3 years as coach!!

Definitely a worry at the quality of Sheffield shield bowling on offer if someone like Head...a proven 30 run specialist, can be 160 odd unbeaten at stumps....hopefully Paine hasn't messed with Green's bowling mentally too much, through his reluctance to bowl the kid v India....as for Voges...he's just warming the seat for when Sean Marsh takes over in 3 years.....

BH: the two 'h's, hey? A third one, Hookes, would have made a few against that attack. What ever happened to slowish seam bowlers whom can pitch the ball up at the Waca?

Very good question AR.
I wonder if our "illustrious leaders" at the WACA can answer that for us???

This pitch looks like it might be the polar opposite of the one in India and it may take 3 declarations to produce a result in 4 days.
