speaking of impact CS...pretty sure I used that word complimenting Lester- Smith on this thread.....but hey this flog has been wrong before......CS tell me how a player who runs hard defensively, sets up team mates and gives off goals?.....qualifies in your eyes as not being in great form?...Is or isn't Lester-Smith in form? .....

Anyway thanks for the serve and insight mate.....I appreciate your comments....actually thought I was complimenting and backing Malaxos's decisions by mocking FF2 rant that Hampson shouldn't of played first up after injurying his hammy?

yeah totally agree re" tall forwards, trees and losses to AFL draft...though tell me this with all the players drafted from EF over the last 10 - 20 years....probably up there in top 5 clubs Australia wide, how the club financially can't compete with other clubs.....where's the 20 - 30K per player been going or gone?.....shit hopefully we aren't still trying to pay off Dunbars contract? ......

You love the Sharks like me mate.....give me more insight on whose doing what.....living in NZ I can only comment on the views I get from people I know back home in Perth and what I read here on Oz Footy....if it was only that simple to sit back and watch EF play these days...... :(

You don't have to be in form to run hard both ways mate.....
I guess you living in NZ you would only have the stat sheets to go off. Fair enough I guess if that's the case

Freezin wrote: I wonder if FF2 will be back caning Malaxos backside for picking Hampson after he has been out for 3 weeks ;) .......probably it was more risky of Malaxos picking Hampson then taking the safer option and giving him a run in the reserves instead.....luck, wisdom or good fortune.....Hampsons selection paid off.....though I reckon Lester-Smith might be enjoying his next game a wee bit earlier in the day.....

Sounded like EF midfield got their act together v SD, the inside 50 approach seem to be a bit more direct.......handy kicking straight too....been a while since that happen. Defence wise which players are stepping up in the absence of Dodd and Howlett this year? Read didn't see much of the action after Cary's reckless tackle, Jupp was already out, so did Dorotich step up? Williamson from the sounds of things has made the transition from small forward to small defender pretty seemlessly, whilst Chartres seems to be seeing plenty of the footy.

Up front where did Hampson play? Ellis keeps picking up the goal or 2 each week, hopefully EF can find another tall target up front before the year is out........though not much cooking in the reserves at present. EF colts missed a great chance to kick SD right out of the game before half time.....5.8 - 2.0 sounds like EF were well in control.....touch wood the colts can keep improving....great to see 7 players in the initial state squad....not too sure all 7 will get through but good luck to all 7 in their attempt of playing for their state.

Freezin how was Cary's tackle reckless. He has done everything right; one would have thought that the umpire should have worked out whether it was a free kick or a bouncedown after the first 360; by the time it got to 540 most assuredly the whistle should have been blown. If it takes a 72o for him to stillnot be able to make a decision he needs to hang up his whistle and retire forever, or do the honourable thing and say that he is entirely culpable for what happened subsequent to the 720.

Great win!!! I seriously doubted we could do it, but it shows me that when we are switched on and have are kicking straight we can match it with anyone.

Now for the out of form puppy dogs.

great team effort
youngy BOG

ressies skills & decision making cost them the game

couldn't believe the colts lost in the position they had themselves in - should of learnt a lot from that loss

enjoyed the can bar on the hill as usual - vb & carlton mids only $5...good to see some clubs not ripping off the wafl fans
unfortunately had to pay a $6 for a hot dog from the food van on the hill - highway robbery! next time will call into bunnings for the same hot dog at $2.50

Wasn't happy paying 6 50 for cans at East freo last week and mood didn't improve much at our first home game paying 6 bucks. Jeez ours were 3 or 3 50 only two or three years ago.

Agree with CS that stats at the end of the game always don't always tell a true story to a players impact on a game. An example was on Saturday where the instructions were to keep possession and run the clock down at the end of each quarter for a few minutes. Players behind the ball managed to rack up uncontested possessions at will.

In my opinion the team out there on Saturday is pretty close to the best we have with the obvious addition of Jupp. Stokes, Fletcher, Locantro, Barone and Cuneo will be names thrown around as possible inclusions during the season no doubt. Hampson was probably the first small forward to get to the feet of Ellis, Young and Bristow this year to clean up at ground level. He also managed to find space which has not necessarily been there in previous games. The forwards spread Swans defence and worked hard on their own defensive pressure this week.

The mids mainted pressure for a full four quarters this week and were very good. A under manned defense held up even though Swans did turn the ball over a number of times going into their attacking 50m. Thought Doro played one of his better games this week. Skills levels were better and we moved the ball quicker and more direct than previous weeks.

Agree about that food van Strono - what a rip off. I got the young fella large chips to share - $8. The price of potatoes must have gone up lately and the serve wasnt even that big.
I thought I was at Domain Stadium.
Hopefully the new BBQ the club is putting in at the can bar will be a winner
