Be interested in hearing peoples thoughts on who they think were three of EF best recruits and three of EF worst recruits.....and if they wish from EF to their own club....and vice versa

In my time as an EFFC fan since 1972, I reckon three of EF best recruits in no order were:
David Rankin-dashing BP player who came over with Big Ron from Fitzroy.
Martin Mellody - three time Lynn Medallist classy midfielder in the 90's
Ron Alexander - Big Ron changed EF fortunes after those dark early 80's

Other contenders were: Ian Thomson, Damian Condon, Jeff Cassidy, Gary Gibellini, Colin Waterson, Adrian Bromage, Rhett Bowden, Earl/Scott Spalding, Rob/Tony Solin, Chris Pobjoy, Leigh Willison, Greg Egan,Ken Ferguson,Simon Moss, Paul Abbott, Greg Madigan, Theo Adams, Tony Micale, Stephen Lally, Ian Newman, Bryce Forman,Peter/Jeff Davidson, Tim Malseed, Kingsley Hunter and todays lot in ROB/BOB, Mark McGough, Tommy Howlett and Robbie Young

Three of the worst in my time were:
Neville 'Nifty' Fields - Essondon mid came over after a well documented VFL career, past his best and confirmed that so well by doing fark all.
Mark Norsworthy - came over with a big SA reputation and left as fast as he came.....fark he was useless.
Mark Olsen - to me he was the worst, played one game in 1980, vaguely remember some injury problems, don't know how though so farkin skinny he didn't have any muscles to injure!!

Can remember the likes of Melrose,Neesham, Taylor, Brenton, Hetherington, Broadbridge and Piani doing well at SD. Rowlands, Wolf, Dodd and Foster doing well at Cl. MacCarrey, Derecourt, Miller and Malseed at SF. No doubts a few gooduns to other clubs as well over the years and definitely no doubt a few duds too!!!

Don't disagree with your selections, Rankin was a fine player.

One who I thought was a great recruit was Damien Condon

Champion Melbourne premiership player Big Bob Johnson outstanding full forward and Captain Coach. Led us to four consecutive grand finals and the 1965 premiership.

Actually not a bad topic from your good self freeze
A couple of others from the 80's/90's for you blokes both good and bad were Murray Couper, Peter Keays, Greg Hodson, Peter Thomas, Wayne Allard, Jeff Moore & Kym Zubrinich.
From memory Old Easts havent done too badly from Swans over the years aside from Olsen & maybe Tom Bell there was Tony Solin, Gerard Neesham/Mark Piani (back to Old Easts), Craig Treleven, Glen Symonds, Simon Moss, Craig Hoycard, Greg Madigan, David Morgan, Jason Morgan, Dale Argall & Liam McGuire amongst others!

Old Easts were kind enough to send us Glen Durnthaler in 1979 with the unusual kicking technique facing the right like a rugby penalty kicker.

Everett & Sheedy our way and Brad Smith & Ron Alexander the other way, if you add Ian Thomson and Howlett we still seem in front.

Freezin,
Gary Gibellini ?
He was your player recruited by Perth. I would have him at the top of our list. Don't know why he is on your list.

bit of Alzheimers there cesspit......quite surprised you only mentioned that considering the amount of duds/cast offs EF have sent Perth's way over the years, whilst Perth have kindly sent some pretty good stock back to EF in return!!

as for being even Grump....Cripps and Brennan for EP.....and depending on Simpson's mood.....Kennedy, Masten and Sheppard too......but then again you guys did allow the Marsh boys to suit up for EF. ;)

kind of SD to give us back Neesham and Piani Bease.....hopefully Cary and Jukes don't do as half as well as Treleven mate! :cheer:

One reasonable player we had was a bloke called Graham Wood, remember him? Trouble was, he transferred to the WACA  I must get my old Football Budgets out and have a look through them -probably more players that moved in and out.

good to see Mitch Clark on EF playing list......even if he doesn't suit up for EF, hopefully we can sting some club for a big big transfer fee.....if Stockley was worth 30K....hopefully Clark will be worth double that...at least.....irrspective of his playing mood and mental health demons!
