Woody played about 10 league matches for Old Easts whilst an 18 or 19 yo before playing test cricket. I think he may even have polled Sandover Medal votes in his league debut.

Melrose and Neesham stand out as the best East Fremantle exports to Swans in the time I have been following WAFL. Didn't Swans also recruit Percy Johnson from Old Easts in the 50's as captain coach?

PJ didn't last too long as our coach. Don't forget Mark Piani came from East Freo as well.

I would like to point out that steve marsh was way way way before my time too... but i find it very interesting his crossing that great divide from the enemy. Controversially he moved to East Fremantle in 1957 as Captain/Coach for two years on the then unheard of fee of £300. He was captain/coach of East Fremantle's 1957 premiership win.

It is certainly not one way traffic - Ray Sorrell controversially joined South Fremantle as captain-coach in 1964 and spent two seasons with them before returning to East Fremantle.

hopefully SFFC paid EF that $1 transfer fee to "get" Marsh back

....others who have journeyed that path just recently are Miller, MacCarrey, Monaco and of course their current coach Paul Haselby.......with the word current being a strong bone of contention amongst the SF boys right now...... :P
