Yesterday's win was all about securing 2nd spot before EF next 2 games v Cl and EP. Both will be good tests,as both have shown v WP and Subi respectively they are as vulnerable as any in the top 5.

SF as expected went hard at the contest and once again looked undermanned on paper, but rose to the occasion to put EF under the pump till the last quarter. For a long time, EF didn't wilt mentally v SF and finished off the game the stronger of the 2 sides.

Not sure SF are as future secure as Doggie likes to think they are....EF  won all 3 grades and the reserves, topped up with a fair few colts boys, came from way back, to secure a stirring  1 point win.

A couple of important ins not far away, competition for spots are definitely heating up. It's good EF can go into the finals series with some quality opponents to battle harden themselves against.Keeping a top 2 position will definitely be EF goal over the coming weeks.

Higgins, Parker, Ah Chee, Pearson, Mcquilkin, Dragovich, Doney would have been nice yesterday. Some young mids are getting a run in the league side which should serve us well in the future . . . my point.

The ressies over came a 3 goal 3 quarter time deficit. Max Murphy, did little wrong playing deep in defence, probably made the strongest case for league selection yesterday. Burton, Holmes, Simpson, Lester-Smith, Schoenfeld, Simpson and Josh Ritchie had decent enough games but hardly knocking the door down. Good to see Jamie Meade back and played quite well.

League derby player ratings:

8. Cleaver, Eardley, Jansen, Jupp, H. Marsh, J. Marsh, Turner.
7. Bailey, Baskerville, Bennett, Dixon, Gorringe, McDonald, Marlin.
6. English, Lawler, B. McGuire, R. McGuire, Monty, Walker.
5. Ball, Leggs.

Agree Doggy, the foundations are there.

Gee that's tough Doggie.....but hey SF compared to other WAFL clubs, over the years, have been pretty lucky with injuries....swings in roundabouts I guess.

Speaking of injuries, Joyce and O'Reilly are a week away and Murdock probably back for the Subi game....has Boekhorst retired?

Great day Saturday, winning all 3 grades. Dour affair in the Seniors until Jono Marsh sparked the Sharks with his mid air soccer goal. Defence was once again excellent conceding on 48 points- which won’t win you many games. Both teams with quality out- EF edging SF in the depth department.

Huge game against Claremont and drop it and can fall quickly down the ladder
