Not sure what is the more worrying, the fact that we are taking on the reigning premiers or the WAFL's undisputed umpires favourites. Question marks have been placed against Eardley and O'Reilly and almost certainly there will be a late change to the named team one way or another. Ball, Burton and Williamson are out. Sam Collin's 8 disposals against Perth's reserves has impressed to the extent the ex Booragoon junior gets a league spot for the first time. Leggett and Murphy are the other inclusions.

Bennett is named to continue with a defensive role off half back and Jansen likewise is to continue with a defensive role too. Though probably will at some point, as he did last weekend against Perth in the final quarter, find himself in the ruck. As it stands the team to take on Joondalup is.

GORRINGE  JUPP  JANSEN

BENNETT  BAILEY  EARDLEY

SCHOENFELD  H.MARSH  TURNER

ENGLISH  DIXON  LAWLER

MONTAUBAN  J.MARSH  O'REILLY

MCGUIRE  BASKERVILLE  MURDOCK

COLLINS   JOYCE  LEGGETT  MURPHY

Looking like both Burton and McDonald will play in the league game today.

Bailey and Turner were late outs Ti Em, looks like H Marsh went early as well. Kudos to WP, they always find a way to get the 4 points.....especially  v EF. Usual culprits stand up for them, thought EF would edge ahead after those couple of English last stanza goals...not to be with Meadows steadying the ship.

You are not going to win too many games being goalless down one end....something this side has a habit of repeating. On paper the 3 EF talls up forward looks good....just not happening on the ground though...onward to a rejuvenated Subi....bit different to the Subi side we faced last year.....should be another tough ask for the EF side.

Harry Marsh went off quite early with what looked to be hamstring related. But not entirely sure because it seemed rather innocuous.

Another frustrating performance which has become common over the last year. A game that was there for the taking only for basic mistakes to come back and bite them. Until these types of games are won, the team will continue to struggle to take the next step.

No goals from Marsh, O’Reilly and Dixon isn’t good enough against quality oppo.

Hard tussle all day but we were the better side and got the win. I reckon EF got a bit ahead of themselves with the 2 quick goals in the last qtr, seemed like you thought it was just going to happen with the breeze but we stepped it up with 4 goals against it. Cant believe your boys still try the rough stuff and verbal shit, we just lap it up !

Mel, I wonder if it's a Monaghan generated tactic? Though TBH,there are only a few players left over from the Monaghan era at WP I would of thought.

Yeah agree KC, on paper the 3 talls up front looks potentially scoreboard productive, just not actually happening on the park. Can see Dixon getting used more in the ruck v Clarke next week to help out McGuire. Perhaps play JMarsh at FF and O'Reilly  at CHF....have the ruckmen resting in the pocket.

Also think EF should have only 3 of Lawler, Leggett, English and Montubaun in the forward line.....perhaps English will go into the midfield with HMarsh probably out.

Well to me, I think there's a reason J Marsh, Dixon and O'reilly were cut from AFL lists. They are just not that good!

Marsh is way too inconsistent, and goes missing for large chunks of matches, and Dixon and O'reilly just don't seem to have the ability to kick big bags against quality opposition.

I think we will struggle to even make the finals. The forward line relies to much on the small forwards to kick the goals. How handy would a Josh Kennedy have been for a season or 2!
The mid field is solid, but pretty much all the sides, barring West Coast, have good mid-fields. the back line is probably our strongest part, but a bit undersized and nearly always fighting against bigger stronger opposition forwards, but hold their own mostly.

We lack a tall quality ruck (Jeremy Goddard is a big loss) also.

We have very little depth, highlighted by our ressies struggling as well, which was the case last year. I am happy to be proven wrong, but I don't hold out much hope this year. We seem to have stagnated, whereas other sides have improved.
