Harris had an experienced finals team from 2021 and realistically lost nothing player wise in 2022.....unlike Monaghan who dragged a non finals side in 2021 into a top 2 spot in 2022, despite losing 3 quality WAFL players last minute, then a 4th by week 5......still scratching my head still on how Monaghan even achieved that..

One of the aspects to East Fremantle this season is their better ball usage during the qualifying rounds.
Averaged 27 Ball Disposals / Goal. And 14 Ball Disposals per scoring shot. Compare that to 29 Ball Disposals/ Goal last season, 35 the season before that and 34.5 in season 2019. The Disposals per scoring shot for season 21 being 16, 18.3 the season before that and 2019 is 17.5.
Achieving over 160 more Ball Disposals inside 50 for this season as compared to twenty 21 has shown marked improvement to East Fremantle's game.
The Sharks have done really well this season. They finished the qualifying matches well off the pace in recent seasons but got it together this season to give things a good shake. Basically fell over at the last hurdle. Hopefully the current squad stays together, and with the injured players to come back into the team the league side should be up and about next season.

How things change freeze.  It wasn’t all that long ago that people were saying how hopeless Bill was and that he should be sacked.  Suddenly he should be named coach of the year.

In terms of the WAFL league coaches there is a compelling case that Bill is coach of the year if such an award did exist. Losing 4 players to the AFL on the cusp of and during the season was undeniably an enormous set back. 3rd place finish is more than respectable considering this and factoring in the loss to injury of their full forward for most of the season and late in the season the best player in the competition. Hard to go past the Joondalup coach though for his part in the club capturing a 20th league flag against the team that had knocked them out of the finals last season. Taking his side from 4th to 1st is hard to top.

Bill is a very good coach, he establishes a synergy with the players that supporters / members may not understand when he addresses the players but i can assure you he gets their full support.

Considering EF finished 2 pts behind WP after the H&A  season with those losses Ti Em mentioned, kind of think Monaghan's coaching feat was better then Harris....don't get me wrong Harris is a fantastic coach, but we would never know how WP season would of faired if WCE came along and snaffled up his number 1 ruck, number 1 forward and a key mid....then lose another key tall a few weeks later. ....plus key injuries during the season leading up to the finals.....not sure how Monaghan got EF as far as they did.

Tend to agree Freeze, as Bill & EF were losing players (Strnadica, Dixon, Joyce, Teakle), Darren & WP were adding them just as quickly (Hutchings, Meadows, Johnson, A.Lynch, Hamp, Dobson.....).

Apart from those pre season reruits, what club would have the luxury of playing Riddoch,Manzone,Willheim and Murray in the reserves????i'm pretty sure Garry Moss would've got the Joondalup Falcons over the line with that list.

Maybe the Subi Reserves coach should be the coach of the year then RL?
He did manage to come from 4th place with a team that didnt have much League experience compared to their opponent they toppled who had a number of WAFL veterans running around!

I would say the Subi reserves coach BH would be more worthy of the coach year honours than Harris, who walked into a ready made topped up team, and it was a BIG test of my character to reject the $13 that was on offer for the flag.
