With season 2022 done and dusted - what are folks  positives and negatives for EF?

For me - top 2 finish - finals footy - competitive consistency in performance over the year....no blow outs to speak of.
Finally some 20 + goal kickers in Marsh, English and Monty. Settled selection, despite a few long term injuries with 36 players used during the season. Recruiting Goddard last minute and  Boekhorst winning the Sandover.

Negatives - those AFL last minute losses, Boekhorst doing his ACL, obviously losing to Cl in the prelim as EF did.

All in all a positive season, player retention will be a key, and the return of a few players lost last minute will be helpful.

Murdock for the Lynn, with Eardley hot on his heals....injuries will come back and bite Boekhorst and Baskerville's chances.
Aiken-Featherstone and Scott to take out the reserves and colts F&B respectively.

Enjoyed the banter, more so when the team is winning. Have a great off season and see you all good folk in 2023.

Great season and the squad is in place to challenge over the next 3-5 years you’d think. Jupp, Eardley, Lester-Smith and newly crowned Sandover medallist, Blaine Boekhorst all running out of time so hopefully sooner rather than later.

Positives:
The improvement in young players like Murdock, English, Gorringe, Tassone, Tucker and Montauban.

Blooding of youngster Hagan and Cleaver- who both played 3 finals.

The brand of footy that’s being played is exciting to watch. Highest scoring team in the comp and defence was solid.

New additions in Goddard and McDonald were positive. Williamson serviceable and jury out on Simpson and Medland. The ability to add players (Goddard and Simpson in particular) when we lost Strnadica and Teakle was excellent.

Negatives:

A couple of poor performances in the SF WACA game and the Prelim. Prelim being the worst with what was at stake. That will sting for a bit.

Injuries to Leggett, O’Reilly, Boekhorst, Murdock (at the wrong time), Murphy and Walker. Any 2 of the first 4 would’ve made a massive difference finals time.

Lynn: Eardley

Overwhelmingly positive year, top up with Dixon, Strnadica and Joyce and should be able to challenge again next year.

Good summary KCEF and Freezin! I also thought that McGuire improved significantly as the season progressed and gave us greater flexibility by playing a number of different roles.

Bugger- knew I’d forget someone- yep, McGuire held down a key forward spot and must’ve kicked 12-15 goals. Not sure he’s played much footy there either

Good comments by all.  Have to say that 2 things for me were also worth a mention.  Goddard and his performances throughout the season were commendable.  The other was watching how they ran the ball and played exciting patches of footy.
Only 2 negatives for me, over use of the handball causing turnovers and of course, last weeks game.  Am now looking forward with hopes of a great 2023.

You guys were the hard luck story of 2022 with all the players taken in senseless drafts when it was really too late to find replacements, then your injuries to inform players late in the season. You should be early flag favourites next year with Strnadica, Dixon and Joyce back and Leggett returning from his season ending injury. Will Sandover medalist Boekhurst play at all next season? Sounds doubtful.
Get on your bike.

Disappointing way to end the season for old easts, were flyng high earlier, then going out with loses in last two finals, esp one at home with a GF up for grabs, but had a feeling Claremont would get the choccies in that one, just more primed and in the end coasted.

Been a bloody long drought for EFFC Flag wise, I was hoping for another derby GF before I kick the bucket, cannot see that in years ahead at this stage.

Another signal further diminishing the status of achieving success at WAFL League level

Better than giving it to an AFL puppet. The coaches award can be given to a coach at any level of men's or women's footy under the WAFC, it's not just for men's WAFL league coaching. That being said I'd like to see a special coaches award just for the WAFL league comp. If that was the case it would have been between Bill or Harris.
