Tough gig first up v Peel in rd 1, especially since Freo look far healthier on the injury and COVID front then WCE have been. Not too sure what to take out of that EF preseason, two games in four weeks, definitely will come in very fresh or very under done match fitness wise. Schoenfeld hasn't ventured out once preseason, whilst others have only played once in four weeks due to WCER canceling their game a fortnight ago....and no reserves game v WP either.

Obviously  the coaching staff would of had a preferential starting 22, though new faces in the ES recruits, Paholski, Walker and Goddard have had an opportunity to push for a league spot round 1. Have no doubt losing 3 of EF expected top 22 to WCE in March will definitely  come back and bite EF across the senior grades. It is what it is, be interesting to see who folk think will step up in 2022. Schoenfeld and Murdock will be new recruits after missing most of last year....I will be interested to see if Jed Hagan gets a few games in the seniors in 2022....though besides Sharpe, Monaghan has been reluctant to promote the AFL destined youngsters during his tenure....how the likes of Jackson and Rivers never got a crack amazes me in 2019....yet both played AFL the following year and haven't missed a beat since.

Sydney draftee Corey Warner played 4 league games in a row during last season but lost his spot after a 9 disposal game against Swans. Point taken though. Will be interesting to see who gets a go.

Off topic, but did EF get any compensation for losing Dixon, Stradinka (excus spelling) and the other one so late in the season?

Thes losses have taken a fair bit of if the wafl season I fear. Ef was shaping up nicely.

Probably some small monetary compensation - a figure of not even ten G per player has been whispered.

The problem is not being able to replace them so late. They had plenty of time with Strnadica and managed to bring in Goddard. No chance with the other 2.

Looking forward to seeing how the team looks Rd 1- should be a good test against a strong Peel side.

Peel, I reckon we could handle, all the currently listed AFL players they will play is another thing. The Dockers play in Melbourne, so will take an emergency, but don't have an injury list at this stage - apart from Fyfe. Looking like a bridge too far for the Blue and Whites.

Marsh and O'Reilly as the key forwards, Bailey and Jupp as the key backs....no Schoenfeld and Chris Walker makes his debut. Peel have 10-11 Freo boys, with maybe two more to drop back, though with the game on Sun and over ES, perhaps Freo will take a few Xtra players just in case of any last minute COVID protocol drop outs....already lost Schultz due to the above.

Goddard and the 3 ES recruits in the reserves, probably understandable due to their relative late arrivals to the club....good to see Monaghan  back in Teakle first up. I guess Jansen or Bailey will chop out in the ruck......not to sure how the side will go, fingers crossed it will be a repeat of last year first up.....

Jansen won't do much ruck work - as far as I can see he is not playing! Not as many Dockers as I thought there would be, but still, can't see this going our way.
