Finally round 1 is here....one good scratchie....one not so good scratchie....obviously EF can't afford to be tested with injuries in this shortened season....heard there were a couple of lingering injury niggles(back, ankle, feet) amongst those rested v Subi....all bar Jansen, who is carrying over a 1 match suspension from 2019, will be good to go v SF....sounds like it could be a tad wet tho.....

SF are the 2nd best team in the comp, so tough ask first up, but reckon in this shorten season all games will be tough....play like EF did v Cl and in the last derby v SF, the game will go deep, play like v Subi and everyone will be out of the rain by half time.

Great test first up and a real unknown going in.

Didn’t see Strnadica or Loersch play last week so you’d think they’re under a cloud. Wouldn’t mind have 1 of them in the team. Jansen is a big loss and, as in most cases, whoever controls the Mids will go a long way to controlling the game. EF more than match SF there.

I think the big difference are the Fwd lines- I’d be more confident that Shaw, Strom, Main, Schloithe ect can hit the scoreboard than their EF counterparts.

Looking forward to footy being back and hopefully a positive start to the Sharks. I’ll be heading down to watch Reserves as well- they were impressive last year and be interesting to see how they go as well

Might I suggest to those that see an inefficiency in the ability of the EF players on the ground to take us to the next step in Finals representation, to think on the matter of 'Game Plan'.
What I have seen in more than several players in the two scratchies is a decided lack of plan ethic - made all the more obvious by senior players batting them around the ears on field for taking their own path with the ball and not the teams - Bill also made the VERY VERY clear in his addresses.

This week will be a highly regarded show as to EF teams chances and direction - maybe also for several of the players if they do not step up - Yes its only the first game BUT its a short season. No time to ummm and arrgh.
Leggits inclusion will be staggered as he has to work with the group and learn how - hes a smart player so he will be effective Im sure - just need to see how much
Boekhorst lost this way a little last week and melted with many of the other players - not expected, I'm sure his professionalism will kick right back in and his effect will be clear.
Manning I hear is going to working from the Back line this year - Good to hear. The team needs a leader in the back lines and most of Mannings highlights and magic was played from this point with WP - (he can be a monster) looking forward to his year.
Monahan would do us proud if he can step into a 3 goal's a game payer . Needs to keep his discipline, but his break out year is coming.
Bill Monahan:- knows his group - has a game plan - can at times stick to a plan to a fault - Needs to find that magic way to have his method and thinking instilled in ALL the players as time is here NOW to send a message to the comp.

No doubt AFL recruiters were lined up and salivating over Leggett. I have never been happier to see a team get belted.
