Poor management and people giving them cash to spend on players is strange to me, you are paying Leggets transfer fee

It's not a 1 way street-

Masten (Perth)
H.Marsh (Subiaco)
Harding (Peel)
Quill (Perth)
Hampson (SD)

Would've all earnt the club transfer fees. There's probably more I've forgotten.

Also Palmer to Swans so basically 4 decent transfer fees as reserves players don’t get you much for:
Boekhurst Kommer loersch Tucker Manning Davies Mills and some other blokes from Peel, also you had 20k to throw at Leggett so your outgoings on clearances are way above incoming.

Understandable given our on field performances. Not helpful i guess when an economic meltdown lurks around the next corner though. I wonder what we got for Jono Marsh and Dillon O'Reilly.

You get zero for players drafted and zero for players who go interstate to other comps anymore.
Putting onfield performance before your finances has put you where you are and not a finals appearance to show for it.
May as well have saved your money

Well lets not forget a pandemic! I thought the clubs split the pooled money for draftees now?

BC, if things are tenuous as you suggest I would say two things: firstly, EF should just be transparent. If they are in trouble, say so. It wouldn't;t be a shock to anyone to hear that any WAFL club bar Subi was concerned about its own viability right now. Secondly, if they are in trouble then, as MO and BH said, the starting point is to cut costs. The most logical way is to do what P and SD have been forced to do a few times, put a moratorium on recruiting. I don't want any traditional club to go under, so I would chip in if EF's future was at stake. However, I'm not chipping in to allow then to keep their cohort of highly paid out of zone players and aggressively and unethically target players from rival clubs.

I repeat: insofar as the GFM seeks to get EF fans to donate to the club in lieu of match day revenue and fundraising, etc, it is a good idea. But unless the club is in crisis, opposition fans should feel no obligation to contribute.

I agree with everything you've said TN including opposition fans should feel no obligation to contribute and obviously they don't...so why all the angst from the likes of yourself and the bogan supporters? As gwp says, no one is twisting the arm of non-EF supporters....in the current climate I just thought it was the right thing to do to help out a member of the WAFL family.

I have no angst with EF, just think they are poorly run club and have tried to buy their way out of trouble and it’s got them nowhere.
They all say how bad Wiley was but the people that put him there and have not improved the club financially are still there, work that out, they need a mirror not a go fund me page

Does angst not come out of some sort of existential crisis - if so its the East Freo supporters who will be feeling angst right now.
