Certainly didn't pull any punches BC. Townsend has been a vocal critic of the alignment for a while now. Last friday showed that that it can be a double edged sword for the aligned team as it was obviously men against boys at Leederville .

What a sad state the WAFL is in when two of the proudest clubs in the history of the WAFL are both now a basket case and what are the WAFC hierarchy doing about it? SFA. As long as West Coast and Fremantle are happy they are prepared to turn their backs on the WAFL which sadly is not a competition anymore. You can pencil in another Peel v $ubi grand final already.

And what has come from the expensive independent report? More $$$ down the drain.

Was ever so predictable DD like every year of the alignments one of the 3 afl funded sides in the WAFL will play off in the gf and more often than not against one another!
Another gf between the 2 least supported clubs in the WAFL will be just about the final nail in the coffin of our 133 year old former premier state league sporting competition!

That is why I will probably leave after each ressies game this year, not much point watching a team that clearly isn't an EP team with players who want to play for the club. This is in-spite of the grand plans of the coaching hierarchy who went great pains to assure the AGM that they were doing everything to ensure a club and tradition programme. Having said that Mcinnes does put in but after that it is abt hanging out to dry the EP bred players (or those owned).

The biggest issue for the club at the moment is holding onto a raft of players for the ressies, they will not stay too long if they keep getting passed over.
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

I thought I read somewhere that EP wants to limit the number of WCE players to 12 for each game during the season to align with the finals qualification rules. If they're able to do that, at least you're guaranteed of 10 actual EP players each week which must be a good thing. Peel on the other hand have gone the other way with coach of the century Can Shepherd having a sook about the new rules...so obviously they will have an impact otherwise he wouldn't have said boo after winning the last 2 flags with 17 and 15 Dockers respectively. I think the new rules will see a good chance of non-aligned clubs playing in the GF which probably will be Subi and Souths but it's a long season and who knows.

BC, we did have 10 home-growns in our League side with 12 blow-ins from West Coast. But who knows how long that will last.

On the other hand, according to the paper, Peel had 15 Dockers and two more with AFL experience in their side, but still struggled to beat East Fremantle.

It is a pity that according to the report, Scott Jones was "rarely sighted" and in the views of a number of people I spoke to on Friday, will probably spend the majority of his time at Peel.

But at least, if he does, then he could possibly play in up to two Premiership teams, something he has no chance of doing at East Perth.

It's going to be a long, long season if East Perth serves up crap like that every week.
The only thing to look forward to will be Rounds 3, 10 and 14 (byes).
I thought we were going to make a game of it when it was 12 goals to 7 in the second quarter, with 10 minutes until half-time and the use of a strong breeze.
It was not to be - Subi kicked 17 of the last 20 goals.
The Lions are an exceptional team, though it was men against boys for most of the night.
