A great game to watch today..Pretty it was not, but the boys played to the Royals Standard and played for the jumper and each other. Great to see some good physical contests, and the delivery to some of our bigs in the forward line was much improved..Really good to see Ajang use his body and commit himself to the contest. I think they have the best players pretty spot on too. Thought Scott Jones might have been is with a chance as well. For a big guy, he did some great running today. Big congrats to Nathan for his 150 and Stans 50....Sounds like Barney let the boys sort through a few of their issues as a playing group this week, and seems to have worked to get the team to turn things around and learn how to win again...Now hopefully some of this will rub off on the ressies who had a shocker today..There were some good efforts in the ressies, but once again, the game plan will not work if we continue to turn the ball over with shocking disposals and not using the right options...Overall a good day out. 2 out of 3 aint bad... Go Royals :)

This was a victory for the true believers with Eddie Simpson being a fantastic focal point with 16 possessions 3 goals and 10 marks,AJ finally imposing himself around the ground,Pebbles Ameduri with a fantastic blanketing job on Scloithe.,North,Msando and Willcocks magnificent down back, and Shayne Hille finally bring his 80 plus games experience to the fore with 7 inside fifties and 10 tackles and playing the linkman role to perfection, and i think with Ramsay and Robertson returning after the bye we might start causing a headache or 2.

Firstly who has mentioned Barnards future most of the talk has been abt how the team and plan have not produced.

So what happened, it seems from the comments it was all abt the EAST PERTH players (well the ones that have been a little missing) coming to play and having an effect on the game. That in itself is an improvement.

It is certainly very heartening for me to see Pebbles get some praise and our 'to short' backline also receiving some plaudits after being cause for concern from some!

Firstly all the good points, Hille played the most committed and strong game I can remember. That has to be  the standard he maintains in the difficult position he plays.  Pebbles is a first choice player for me so I expect him to perform his role every week.  The forward line in general was a little sharper. The midfield was quite good with Angus Scott actually improving to a very good level.  The fairest and best is over he will win it.

The South’s forward line got horrible supply, credit to our midfield. A bit to tidy up obviously down back but the boys fought hard. South had 6 players who I haven’t really heard of so they definitely were there for the kill. We aren’t used to winning these games, so hopefully the composure and decision making becomes easier as we get in a winning position more often.

Well done Royals, great hard earned win against quality opposition. Once again the hard tag on Schloithe has proven effective, he cant deal with it, so every club will be doing the same. Your coaching staff obviously did their homework and managed to shut down a very talented outfit, was listening to that last quarter, your hearts must have been in your mouths, but the best team won on the day.

Yes well done Royals for a gutsy win and a great tribute to Blee. My feeling is that East Perth are going to be harder to beat as the season goes on.

Yes SS...Subi played Jack Beverley as a hard tag on Jhye Bolton a couple of weeks ago which was very effective so you can guarantee something similar with Schloithe when we play Souths next.

Finally the forwards got some quick entries inside 50, instead of chipping it around all over the place, great win, been close a number of times over the last few years.
The second half of the year, will be onwards and upwards hopefully

Agreed LH...I felt sorry for EF in the derby last week for the same reasons.

Great result by the Royals. South just don't seem to show respect to sides below them unless it's a Derby or a chance for a big percentage booster against WC reserves. They got what they deserved. Too busy hyping themselves up to be the new home of the WAFL GF.
