It might be easier to explain the theory of relativity or chaos theory than to answer your question. Basically the WAFC could not give a stuff about the WAFL competition, clubs, members or supporters. Their raison d'etre is to serve the two WA domiciled AFL clubs.

The WAFC are just a proxy org. for the two AFL Franchises based here, they are the ones pulling the strings not the WAFC.

WAFL with all it's rich history or AFLWA with no history or local relevance. Also petitions could be organized by each club to get signitures from non member supporters at each game so the Commission get a clear idea what the punters who go along each week want.

Anyone remember Weststar Rules?

BC wrote: hey mate...no Subi wanted the game to go ahead. Schofield said that Cam Shepherd and the FART footy manager rang the WAFC and complained about the state of the ground. Subi were suited up and going through warm ups right up until 2pm when it was called off. I was sitting in the stands and an announcement came over the PA that the game was cancelled and the Subi players stayed on the ground for about another 10 minutes or so in disbelief.

Thanks, what an absolute disgrace.

I don't think in nearly 50 years of going to WAFL I have ever seen that happen.

Even in wild bleak squals and storm conditions in the 70s when our suburban grounds were rough as , the game went on.

I had tried to completely forget about that ...absolutely cringe worthy as was the explanation for the name and the change at the time!

The mot pathetic moment the whole westar disgrace was when we played Tasmania in a state game, one televised back to Perth. One of the WA commentators kept referring to WA as westar, at which point, his Tasmanian counterpart had apparently had enough and asked: What is all this westar, are we playing WA or not?

Never forget people, the westar's emblem is on the competition's badge; in this sense, it has not gone away at all.

How to destroy a competition 101 by Grant Dorrington.

Put a team in the VFL and thin the talent pool.
Introduce a new joke of a team in the WAFL and further spread the talent pool.
Change the competitions name to further alienate traditional supporters, in order to attract new supporters that didn't come.

I could go on...

I am pretty sure the WA commentator was indeed the chap you mention Singha -- he was doing special comments on the game. Can anybody else remember?

The amount of damage that bloke did is just mind boggling....

The Peel and Dockers introduction thing did go to a vote I guess, the WAFL clubs that voted for it own the blame.
