Well done on 3 out of 3 today WP. Stockley has improved but didn't play well today - He's had a great season and we couldn't be happier with his efforts.

Subi have a bit of work to do and out depth is being tested - We'll be there abouts at the end of the season but doubt we'll be 1st or 2nd - Hope I'm wrong ???

COLTS
Subiaco 9-7 lost to West Perth 8-16
Goals: McAlister 5, Cary, Adler, Hatch, Swain 1
Best: Walters, Wilkinson, McAlister, Pearce, Evans, Beverley, Cary, Summers

The result shows that you have to respect your opposition no matter where they are on the table. The team played as though the win would just take care of itself without the necessary intensity. Sure, Subi had some key players missing but on paper the side had enough talent to win still.

In truth the small margin flattered Subiaco. West Perth completely dominated play around the ground. It was only their poor kicking at goal and for a change some rather fortunate free kicks that went our way that kept Subiaco within reach until the end.

Rhys McAlister kicked all four of our goals in the first half and finished with five.

Max Walters played a magnificent game. You could sense that he knew the match was slipping away in the third quarter and he lifted - often steaming through tackles to send Subi forward. He also added a bit of badly needed vigour to the contest.

Connor Wilkinson was another that played with intensity in the midfield. His 23 possessions were hard earned.

Captain Brennan Pearce was able to repel a number of West Perth attacks. For long periods of the game the ball seemed to be in between the centre and the West Perth forward 50 - without actually making it inside their forward 50.

15 year old Jack Beverley showed a lot of composure for someone so young. He wasn't afraid to put himself in the contest even though he was under constant pressure in the back half.

Ben Evans, a WA junior representative and World XXV squad member, had a bit of a break out game. He's 191cm which isn't tall for a ruckman these days but was able to break even in the hit-outs as well as gathering 13 disposals and 3 marks around the ground.

Other players to stand out were Aaron Summers - especially early on. Jak Cary and Jay Allison-Green. Boulder junior Sam Demarte showed in patches that he can be a very good colts player over the next 18 months.

RESERVES
Subiaco 9-7 lost to West Perth 12-9
Goals: Clarke 2, Stephen, Boyle, Hoskins, Norriss, Wrigley, Vermeersch, Garcia 1
Best: Heal, Panizza, Hoskins, Norriss, Bryan, Scafidi, Ashman, Bogensperger, Berryman

That was a bit of a surprise to see us fade away in the last quarter. I knew that West Perth had a decent side because I watched them dismantle Peel reserves the week before but I thought we would somehow grind out a win. Not to be.

Thanks goodness for our defenders. West Perth had the ball inside the forward 50 fifty four times which is a lot. The week before Matthew Fowler kicked 8.6 against Peel. This week Aaron Heal was able to keep him to 2.0. Heal has the remarkable ability to spoil and then get his own crumb and is quick enough to rebound away from most opponents. He played an outstanding game.

Matthew Panizza, a player I don't know much about also did well destroying the ball and providing some run out of the backline.

Craig Hoskins was very good in the midfield and seems to be injury free. It's nice to see him doing well and playing the way he did as a colts B&F.

I thought Luke Norriss played a very good game as well. Aggressive, hard at the contest and capped off his good work with a goal.

Joe Scafidi racked up another 25 possessions. Many of them contested as usual.

Chris Bryan had a very good debut out of colts. He showed that even at a higher level he is able to play with great flair, courage and skill.

Matt Bogensperger worked his guts out and gathered 25 also although he isn't quite hurting the opposition with his disposals yet like I know he can.

Stuart Berryman was solid in defence. Joel Ashman very courageous. James Hughes tried very hard but made a few errors by foot.

Unfortunately Jordan Bestry left the field with an injury on a stretcher. Hopefully it isn't too serious. Another one of our younger players out of action.

Thankfully one - Jimmy Garcia - returned this week and did some nice things without dominating. Ryan Vermeersch made his debut at reserves level and was more than solid.

Couldnt get to the game but recorded it & watched it last night. Not too bothered about this loss (although a loss is a loss) as we kept on having a crack right until the very end & it was really only a few things that cost us the match - clangers strike on rodda at a vital stage, anyone see what happened? Also a couple of bad errors especially the last one when manning marked & goaled. Joondy were kissed on the dick, a couple of the decisions were baffling to say the least. Looking forward to our next meeting when hopefully we have a few of our boys back from injury. Adams vs Rumble would be good to watch, hopefully next time...

I thought Subi were bloody awful. Agree we are undermanned, at least 6 definite certain starters out I can think of. Terrible ball handling skills, so much fumbling was irritating me, even the great Horse struggled to hang on to the ball.

Soft. One of those love taps that happens all game every week. Only difference is when a player takes a dive and pretends he was shot.

I got to the game late but for me we lost it in the first 20-25 minutes of the third quarter. Dominated play and had countless I50 but for all the action we had no goals. Then WP get three late and we struggled to find that effort and run needed after that.

Think some of the team looked tired, even though we had a bye 4 weeks ago we can do with another weeks rest.
