Some of those guy's are putting together on the park each week at the moment LH - Hence our great start. How did young Dylan Elliott go this week ? Who was he on ???

He played on McInnes but also Lycett & Johnson at times & even Oakley -Nicholls i think at one stage. He did ok but copped a hard knock to the nose which slowed him a bit. Didnt have many possessions but wore them pretty close

I think that's probably the role they're looking for from the young fella - Not a possession game but a blanketing role. I've got to watch him a bit closer next time and keep an eye on the way he goes about it. In his role it's probably more about what his opponent does or more to the point doesn't or can't do and that's what Dylan is judged on by the coaches ???

Yep 100%. If he keeps them quiet hes done his job even if he hardly touches it himself.

Shame of it all is - I reckon for the first time Subi had more supporters at a ground that East Perth. At least judging by the barracking. Even when they hit the front they didn't really make much noise. East Perth were about 1000 short from what I remember previously. Speaking to some EP diehards during the day, they are pretty unhappy mostly and are attending games just out of habit rather than because they are embracing the concept. One old timer I spoke to was absolutely devastated by the allignment.

East Perth had a big following before this year. Now it's not as big. That's another fine mess created by this allignment.

LH.....the only problem is that the WAFC just assumed what ever number of EP fans would be lost due to the alignment, were going to be replaced probably 10 fold, by the WCE fans watching their reserves boys play.....problem is these fans are front runners and probably blame those two EP losses, on the EP boys and not the WCE boys...how was EP superior fitness in that last quarter mate?....isn't that what most folks were complaining about being so unfair?

Yeah Hinch - I work with quite a few diehard Italian traditional EP supporters , all of them have walked away & refuse to renew memberships out of principle
Three of them have taken up supporting their old Vicco teams in that comp and not the WCE as well

RESERVES
Subiaco 15-10 d East Perth 7-6
Goals: Clarke 3, Daniels 3, McDougall 2, Bestry 2, Norriss, Ashman, Hughes, Boyle, Wade 1
Best: Scafidi, Stewart, Berryman, Heal, D Jackson, Smythe, Wade, Moore, Ashman, Bogensperger

This game was set-up by Subiaco in the first half - due in a large way to youngster Joe Scafidi who racked up 18 possessions by half-time to pretty much pencil in the BOG with two quarters to go. His ability to win the contested ball at stoppages, break a tackle then feed the ball out to a better positioned team mate was outstanding. At one stage instead of tackling an opponent, he simply wrenched the ball from the player's hands and dish it out to a loose man. He finished with 27 all up.

The midfield was very dominant with Blechynden (24), Moore (24), Bogensperger (25), Fetherstonhaugh (20), Wade (26) and Smythe (19) although to me some of the lesser known players stood out - mainly in the backline.

Nathan Stewart, a long time Subi colts and reserves stalwart was terrific from half-back, clearing with dash and attacking the ball ferociously. Stuart Berryman like-wise. He has stepped up his game this season and does a ripper job each week minding an opposition small forward. Declan Jackson, in the last line was another who stood out. There must be no worse feeling for a full back when everybody has pushed up the ground and suddenly the ball is kicked over your head towards the goal square, creating a one on one sprint with the full forward. Although he is a big unit, Declan rarely gets beaten in that situation. Aaron Heal continues to improve . He isn't a prolific ball winner but he doesn't make errors.

Joel Ashman, Dan Leishman and Scott Worthington all played their first games for 2014. Ashman in particular was very good with 20 hard earned possessions.

After kicking 12 goals to 2 in the first half, things slowed right down in the last two quarters. It was a stodgy 56 minutes of football to be honest. Although it was great to see Bogensperger running as hard at the end as anybody was in the beginning. I don't think he has been at his best so far this season but in the second half he started to look like the well balanced, super slick, hard at it player Subi supporters know.

Dylan Clarke added another 3 goals to his season's tally to move into top spot on the reserves goal kicking table. Jordan Bestry, the ruckman/forward booted two to move into second position.

Yes, agree. Don't see many Eagles fans bothering to show up. But the media went along with the propaganda as they do.

Maybe Hams had a point in his column when comparing the way WAFL teams train compared to AFL. Six days a week consisting of sharp 30 minute sessions at AFL level or the 2 or 3 two hour sessions the WAFL boys do each week - plus rehab.

But really, all players at this level are fit. It seems to come down to hunger.

Having said that, I still think EP will be hard to stop. Smith, Lycett, Sinclair, Johnson are nearly impossible to man up on. Luckily for us Smith didn't play.

COLTS
Subiaco 16-14 d East Perth 4-6
Goals: Grace 8, JJ Woodley 2, Wilkinson, Cary, Vermeersch, Edwards, Walters, Clark 1
Best: Clark, Grace, Buscall, Summers, Pearce, Creeper, JJ Woodley, Cary, Edwards, Bryan

A very good display against a pretty useful East Perth colts side.

Greg Clark was BOG. He dominated in the air, on the ground and in contested situations. It's very handy to have a 191 cm midfielder running around.

Cody Grace and Jeremy Woodley were outstanding targets up forward. Grace took 11 marks and booted 8.3 while Woodley took 7 marks and finished with 2.4. Both are very good overhead for their size and together with Ryan Vermeersch, Jak Cary and Rhys McAlister (When he returns from injury) form a potent and well balanced forward line.

Corey Buscall did another great job at full back. He has the ability to just get a hand into the marking contest to force a 50/50. Rarely outmarked. Jack Gare gave him something to think about in the last quarter but by then the game was over.

Aaron Summers, a recent addition to the WA 18's used his pace to advantage and was a reliable avenue to goals.

Tim Edwards is starting to put some good games together.

Adam Creeper, another WA 18's squad member - is developing into a very strong key-position player. Is courageous in the air and very good at ground level for a tall.

Brennan Pearce was sure in defence after a few early kicking mishaps.

Chris Bryan is arguably the most skillful player in the side. The way he is able to scoop the ball up at ground level is amazing. At times it's as though the ball just happily hops up from the ground into the palm of his hand. One to watch for the league side - maybe sooner rather than later.
